The paper summarizes the data on height, DBH and standing tree voulme of second generation hybrids (F1) of FRI-4 (E. tereticornis X E. camaldulensis) and FR-5 (E tereticornis X E. camaldulensis) along with their parents at age 4 years in a field trial laid out at New Forest, Debra Dun. The F2's were compared with F1's(FRI-4 and PRI-S)in respect of the height. DBH and volume for the data recorded at the corresponding age under the same site conditions. In general, overall performance of F2 shows that the heterosis has decreased in F2. However few recombinants in certain families have shown exceptionally good growth giving ample scope for further selection for raising F3.

Air layering in P. potula and P. caribaea var. hondurensis was successfully carried out under Dehra Dun conditions using two year old vigorously growing branches of trees. In both the species percentage of success was 40. The best time of air layering was the month of June to August.- Grafting and Budding in Yemane Gmelina arborea Roxb.

In Gmelina arborea Roxb. (Yemane) techniques on cleft grafting and patch budding were developed successfully at the Forest Genetics Nursery, New Forest, Dehra Dun. 100 per cent success was achieved using both the methods during the months of February, March and April. Bud grafts made in April 1979 flowered in the very next flowering season i.e., April, 1980. A few fruits were also collected from these plants which showed 40% germination. The grafts have also flowered for the successive seasons.- A Note on Air Layering and Budding in Semul
