The evaluation of shelf-life and nutritional value of tomato puree was carried out in this experiment. The microbial and chemical analysis of tomato puree were done at the interval of 15, 30 and 45 days. The sensory evaluation was also carried out in this experiment. The control sample had no preservative in it and it lost its nutritional value with in 15 days. The sample which had sugar and salt as preservative had good sensory evaluation but its life was up to 30 days. The sample which had acetic acid in it had both shelflife and nutritional value was very good. The sample which had citric acid as preservative had shown even better results. Its shelf-life and nutritional value was almost same as sample which had acetic acid as preservative but it scored over in sensory evaluation. Keywords

The ready to serve (RTS) beverage was prepared by blending the orange and carrot juice in the ratios of O40:C60, O50:C50 and O60:C40and stored at room temperature and refrigeration up to 45 days. The quality parameters pH, TSS, acidity and overall acceptability (OAA) were also evaluated at an internal of 15 days. The TSS and acidity of RTS beverage increased and pH was decreased with increase in the level of carrot juice ratio under different storage conditions. The higher score of overall acceptability was 8.05 for fresh sample of O60:C40 and the minimumwas 7.90 for ratio ofO50:C50 sampleat room temperature. However, the overall acceptability of RTS decreased with increase in storage period. Results of study concluded that RTS beverage was found superior under refrigeration condition as compared to room temperatureKeywords

A study was conducted to develop banana and kinnow based fruit beverage and its qualitative evaluation during storage. The TSS, acidity and optical density of banana and kinnow RTS beverage increased with increase in the level of banana juice ratio at different storage condition. The pH decreased with increase in the level of kinnow juice and pH values of the samples composition B70:K30, B60:K40 and B50:K50 after 90 days of storage were observed as 1.60, 1.41 and 1.20, respectively at refrigeration condition. The microbial growth increased during storage period irrespective of banana juice ratio at different storage condition. The ascorbic acid of the RTS samples was decreased during storage period. The minimum ascorbic acid of the sample of juice ratio of the fruits B70:K30, B60:K40 and B50:K50 after 90 days of storage were observed as 1.50, 2.00 and 2.60, respectively at refrigeration condition. The refrigeration storage method was found to be superior over other methods for storage of banana and kinnow based RTS beverage followed by BOD incubator and room temperature conditions. Keywords

Ergonomics is a scientific study of relationship between man and his working environment. Physical agents are forms of energy that can harm the body when exposure takes place. Physical working capacity diminishes with age and sex. In the same age and sex group also, there are individual variations due to the weight, nutrition etc. Experiment were conducted with five dependent variables viz., body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, noise and vibration level, and three independent variables viz., tillage implement, operator age group and field conditions. The tractor operator having age group of 21-30 years was found minimum physiological changes as compared to 31-40 and 41-50 years age in all tillage operations. In wet field conditions the change in physiological responses and the effect of noise and vibration on tractor operator were minimum as compared to dry field conditions. Keywords

Problem statement: Home based care of neurosurgery patients is a difficult task for caregivers in the family. These patients remain bed ridden for quite a long time even after operation. They may develop many complications. Caregivers face a lot of problem in looking after such patients. The majority of these problems can be minimized if caregivers are properly trained.
Purpose of study: To ascertain the problems faced by family caregivers in home care of discharged postoperative neurosurgery patients. To ascertain the quality of home care of discharged postoperative neurosurgery patients. To explore the opinion of family caregivers about their role in home based care.
Methods: This cross sectional interview based descriptive study was done in 2010 in Chandigarh. These patients were visited at their home. Modified caregiver strain index was used to assess stress on the caregivers. Quality of home care was assessed by a15 item questionnaire. Verbatim responses were recorded for the purpose of qualitative research. Results and Finding: Overall 58 patients and their caregivers were interviewed at home. Mean age of the patients was 38.9 years and, of caregivers was 39.1 years. Caregiver and patients were either related by blood (43.9%) or were spouses (45.6%). Condition of 74.1% patients improved after operation. A high strain was noticed in majority of the caregivers (63.2%). Quality of care at home as found to be good in half of the patients whereas average to poor in other half. Depression was reported in 31% of patients. Many (36.2%) patients and some (8.7%) of caregivers had to quit their job due to the disease. Conclusion and Recommendations: Caregivers of neurosurgical patients faced significant stress. Quality of life and quality of care of many patients was poor. There is a need of training of caregivers. A cadre of professional caregiver needs to be built.
