The present study titled, 'An Assessment of Emotional Intelligence and Psychological skill usage among Professional Sports Players', was intended to explore the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Psychological skill usage among Professional Sports Players and understand whether age, weekly hours of practice and number of years played influence these variables. The objectives of the study were; to investigate whether there exists a correlation between Emotional Intelligence and Psychological skill usage, to investigate whether there exits significant differences in Emotional Intelligence and Psychological skill usage with regard to age, weekly hours of practice and number of years played. 80 professional sports players were examined. The tools used for data collection comprised of the Personal and Socio-Demographic Information Schedule, Emotional Intelligence Scale by Schutte et al and Test of Performance Strategies by Thomas et al. The tools used for statistical analyses were Pearson's correlation and ANOVA. Results indicated a positive correlation between Emotional Intelligence and Psychological skill usage. Significant differences were observed in Emotional Intelligence with regard to age and weekly hours of practice, also significant differences were found in Psychological skill usage with regard to weekly hours of practice and number of years played.Keywords

The present study titled 'Passion and Psychological Skill Usage among Professional Sports players in Goa' was intended to study sports passion and psychological skill usage among professional sports players and to understand whether the age of the professional sports players influences then passion and psychology skill usage. The objectives of the study were; to investigate whether passion of professional sport players is significantly related to their psychological skill usage (Dimension wise and Overall), to investigate whether there exists significant difference in passion and psychological skill usage with regard to the age. The study was conducted on a sample of 237 professional sports players(between the age of 15-45 years).The tools used for data collection comprised of the Passion scale by Vallerand et al. (2003) and Test of Performance Strategies (TOPS) by Thomas et al. (1999). The tools used for statistical analysts were Karl Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and ANOVA(One Way Analysts of Variance). The findings of the study revealed significant correlations between passion and psychological skill usage, the dimensions of goal setting, emotional control, automaticity, relaxation, self-talk, imagery, positive thinking,and activation correlated significantly and positively to harmonious passion. Significant differences were observed in harmonious and obsessive passion with regard to age of professional sports players. Significant age differences were also observed in overall psychological skill usage and the dimensions of goal setting, emotional control, automaticity, relaxation, imagery.Keywords

The present study titled 'A study of Birth Order and Emotional Intelligence among Adolescents from Dual-Parent Homes in Goa' was intended to study birthorder and emotional intelligence among adolescents from dual parent homes and understand whether gender influences theses variables. The objectives of the study were; to investigate whether there significant differencesin emotional intelligence with regard to birth order, to investigate whether there exists significant difference in emotional intelligence with regard to gender. The study was conducted on a sample of 60 adolescents (that is adolescents in the age group of 12-21 years) from dual-parent homes. The tools used for data collection comprisedof the Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (SEIS), and a Personal Data Sheet.The tools used for statistical analysis were t-test and ANOVA (One Way Analysis of Variance). The findings of the study revealed that significant differences existin emotional intelligence with regard to birth order. Significant gender differences were also found in the emotional intelligence of adolescents in dual parent homes.Keywords
