Mahouts are a specialized class of people with aproud professional background. However, the profession is losing its appeal owing to the dwindling importance of captive elephants. We have assessed their incomes, number elephants-1, background and human casualties by captive elephants through extensive surveys in three captive elephant management systems-private, Hindu temple and forest department prevalent in Tamil Nadu. The number of mahouts elephant -1 was significantly less than actually required in the temple system. The forest department with the highest salary retained a higher proportion of traditional mahouts (83%) followed by private system (>60%) and the temple system with the lowest salary and benefits had the lowest proportion (56%). The forest department system with a large segment of adult male elephants (68%) recorded larger numbers of human injury (0.02 incident elephant-1 year-1), but cases of manslaughter was negligible (0.002 human deaths' elephant1 year). The temple management with predominantly (95%) female elephants still experienced the highest man-slaughter cases (0.01 human deaths elephant-1 year-1), which is attributed to a lack of traditional compassion and kindness, the essential traits to handle elephants effectively. Better economic and welfare measures are needed to retain the traditional talent in the profession and manage the captive elephants effectively. Keywords

Ad Hoc network is more convenient and cheaper than the networks with infrastructure in the usage and setup. As to wire network, the router and the terminals are also existed in Ad Hoc network. Compared with the roles of nodes in wire network, the major differences are which act two different roles meanwhile in Ad Hoc network. In practice, it is not only to research in communication security but also to setup the correct route becomes a very important subject. In this paper, we propose a new secure routing protocol based on IDMAC (Identity-Based Message Access code). According to our analysis, this scheme can prevent the problems of routing forging, modifying, and identity authentication on the Ad-Hoc network. Furthermore, we look into a number of “single-copy” routing schemes that use only one copy per message, and hence significantly reduce the resource requirements of flooding-based algorithms. We use NS2 (Network Simulator) to simulate our scheme and discuss how well the efficiency is from the simulation results. Keywords

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in service oriented architecture for wireless sensor networks which ease the programming and decouple the application development from the low level details of the nodes and networks. However, there are many fundamental problems that sensor networks research will have to address in order to realize the potential of service oriented wireless senor networks. Chief among them is power. Since the nodes in the wireless sensor networks are energy constraint appropriate routing protocol can drastically reduce the energy consumption and enhance the lifetime of the network. In this paper we propose Energy efficient Service driven Query Routing protocol (ESQR). ESQR routes the query based on the service requested. It makes use of hierarchical, distributed and unequal clustering protocol in which transmission range of the node changes dynamically based on the residual energy and the distance from the base station. Simulation results show that our approach is scalable, minimizes energy consumption, extends the network lifetime and reduces the query latency. Keywords

Background/Objectives: The most effective and efficient tool for managing large image database is Image Retrieval. Content Based Image Retrieval is strategy for recovering images based on the content of the image. Color, Shape, Texture are said to be Content of an image. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The necessity for Content Based Image Retrieval has been increasing over a decade in different domains such as Data mining, Medical Imaging, Education, Crime prevention etc. It is still an research area where research is going on how to recover the images based on their content. The existing system has a flaw that is image retrieving is based on the keywords presented along with the image. Findings: The images retrieved based on the keywords are inaccurate and it also consumes more time. In this technique we present query image as an input and we get related images as the output which match the content of the query image. Here, the findings are not only based on the color, texture and shape but also trace the underlying points of the image. At first the pictures are recovered based on the color, then took after by texture and finally tracing the underlying graphical structure. Application/Improvements: The proposed system is efficient in recovering images based on the content of the image presented as query. Retrieving images based on underlying graphical structure will help in removal of many irrelevant images and makes the system efficient. Keywords
