Abstract

The Ethanolic extract of the leaves of Bauhinia Purpurea Linn. studied for anticonvulsant effect on maximum electroshock (MES) and Pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) induced seizure in albino male mice at 3 different dose levels (100 mg/kg , 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg i.p). The ethanolic leaves extract showed significant action (p<0.001) against both Maximal Electroshock (MES) and Pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) induced seizure.

Abstract

Bauhinia purpurea, a useful medicinal plant was subjected to phytochemical investigation. A new ursane triterpenes α-amyrin caprylate (compound 1) was isolated along with other triterpenoids from petroleum ether fraction of ethanolic extract (95%) of leaf of Bauhinia purpurea. Their structures were elucidated with the help of physico-chemical methods and spectroscopic techniques. All of these triterpenes from this plant are being reported for the first time.

Abstract

Groundwater is one of the most useful water sources. Contamination of such water source is a big problem creating health hazards. In this present study we have collected groundwater samples from different places of Rajkot city of India. These samples were analyzed for the various physicochemical parameters like pH, conductivity, total dissolved solid, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, calcium and magnesium, sodium, potassium sulphate, chloride ion and biochemical oxygen demand.
