This paper proposes the control of reactive power is to be done with the help of FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) device such as SVC (Static Variable Compensator) & TCPAR (Thyristor Control Phase Angle Reactor). These are the compensators which give a suitable and fast response to control the reactive power for the load which is changing rapidly. Here the tap changer has been designed specially in order to improve the voltage level and there by the smoothening of the reactive power can be achieved. By controlling and varying the firing angle and duty cycle of the thyristor for R, RL and RLE load the varying of reactive power can be done. Simulation results are going to be achieved for the control of reactive power using tap changing system. The main advantage in this system is to control the reactive power and to improve the power quality in the grid to stabilize the voltage by various compensation methods. The validity of the proposed Thyristoroid Control of Tap Changer (TCTC) system is verified by the computer simulation results. Keywords
