- Sensor Node Failure Detection Using Round Trip Delay and Paths in WSNs

In recent years, applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been increased due to its vast potential to connect the physical world to the virtual world. Also, an advance in microelectronic fabrication technology reduces the cost of manufacturing portable wireless sensor nodes. It becomes a trend to deploy the large numbers of portable wireless sensors in WSNs to increase the Quality of Service (QoS). The QoS of such WSNs is mainly affected by the failure of sensor nodes. Probability of sensor node failure increases with increase in number of sensors. In order to maintain the better QoS under failure conditions, identifying and detaching such faults are essential. In the proposed method, faulty sensor node is detected by measuring the Round Trip Delay (RTD) time of discrete round trip paths and comparing them with threshold value. Scalability of proposed method is verified by simulating the WSNs with large numbers of sensor nodes in NS2. The RTD time results derived in hardware and software implementations are almost equal, justifying the real time applicability of the investigated method. Necessity of received signal strength measurement in cluster head variation and assigning separate wavelength for each link in other fault detection techniques are overcome here.

Cladding is a process of depositing a thick layer of a metal surface to a carbon steel or low alloy steel base metal for the purpose of providing a corrosion-resistant surface when that surface is to be exposed to a corrosive environment. Clad metals are more prone to corrosion attacks as compared to base metals because they are compositionally and microstructurally in homogeneous. Claddings require a proper evaluation of their corrosion resistance in order to ensure that they are suitable for the desired applications. This paper focuses on an experimental study of duplex stainless steel cladding of low carbon structural steel deposited by flux cored arc welding process. In this research work, double-loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation technique was employed to evaluate the intergranular corrosion resistance of the claddings. The effect of heat input on intergranular corrosion resistance is presented in graphical forms, which are very useful to control the corrosion resistance of the claddings.Keywords

Objectives: This paper elucidates the analytical study of the diversity schemes and the channel estimation techniques. Methods/Analysis: The future generation wireless communication systems require high speed data connection with lower bandwidth usage and high QoS with minimal system complexity. So, Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) is one of the best and suitable solutions for future wireless system demands and not disturbing the bandwidth. MIMO offers spatial multiplexing and diversity gains. Findings: The combination of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) with MIMO enables the users to get the advantages of both OFDM and MIMO and Spatial multiplexing concept is used in this system to increasing the spectral efficiency of a system. The signal fading is caused by destructive interference. Novelty/ Improvement: To improve the signal quality, we can use the different diversity schemes and channel estimation techniques and discussed in this paper detail.Keywords

In order to gain competitive advantage in global market it is necessary to reduce the manufacturing lead time for every product. There is a potential for time saving in the design process. In a modeling process, the design can be automated by using parametric modeling technique. This paper throws an insight towards the parameterization of an open type drive wheel assembly of an Apron Conveyor using Pro/PROGRAM, a feature in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 software by controlling the geometrical parameters, using parametric modeling technique. This work is intended to reduce the overall modeling time of an assembly. The modeling process is significantly simplified by reducing the number of the modeling steps thereby reducing modeling errors resulting in enhanced quality of the products. The end user need not to have design skills or knowledge of using CAD systems. Welding process is used in most of the manufacturing Industrie which requires metal joining in a large scale. In any welding process it is very essential to optimize process parameters in order to achieve desired weld bead characteristics. In this work, combined objective function of maximizing the bead penetration, minimizing the dilution, reinforcement and width w/as considered. Four SAW process parameters (voltage, wire feed rate, welding speed, and nozzle to plate distance) were identified for optimization subjected to realistic process constraints. Several conventional techniques had been suggested in the literature for solving this problem. But these techniques are not robust and take iot of time to find the global optimum and are difficult to understand and implement. In order to over come the difficulties with conventional techniques a new technique called particle swarm optimization is implemented In this work. PSO is a simple and powerful technique based on the concept of social interaction to problem solving. In PSO a swarm search of n individuals communicate either directly or indirectly with one another for getting the search direction. This algorithm starts with 20 particles (solutions) and searches for the new ones by updating the velocities. Maximum of 500 iterations were performed and the solution was obtained. Software has been written using VC++ language. The solution obtained by this procedure is found to be superior. This paper focuses an experimental study and analysis of various input process parameters and important clad quality parameters in duplex stainless steel cladding of low carbon structural steel plates deposited by Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). The experiments were conducted based on four-factor five level central composite rotatable design with full replications technique and mathematical models were developed using multiple regression methods. The main problem faced in stainless steel cladding is the selection of optimum process parameters for achieving the required clad bead geometry. This paper highlights an experimental study carried out to develop mathematical models to predict clad bead geometry in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process used in austenitic stainless steel cladding of low carbon structural steel plates. The experiments were conducted based on four-factor five level central composite rotatable design with full replications technique. The mathematical models was developed using multiple regression method.

This problem can be solved by using Genetic Algorithm (GA) technique to optimize the process parameters to achieve minimum dilution and penetration, maximum bead width and reinforcement. This paper focuses on an optimization of input process parameters in duplex stainless steel cladding of low carbon structural steel plates deposited by Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).

In order to maintain the required corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the claddings, controlling the microstructure is essential. This paper focuses on an experimental study of duplex stainless steel cladding of low carbon structural steel deposited by flux cored arc welding process. Colour metallographic technique was used to study the microstructure of the clad layer cladded under two different heat input conditions with the help of optical microscope.

Resistance to pitting corrosion is commonly expressed by Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN). During duplex stainless steel weld cladding, pitting resistance balance is disturbed by the formation of intermetallic precipitates, or by excessive precipitation of secondary austenite in surface regions. Redistribution of alloying elements as a result of such transformations may lead to local reductions in pitting resistance. Hence, control of PREN is very important to maintain the required pitting resistance. This paper highlights an experimental study and analysis of various welding parameters influencing PREN in duplex stainless steel cladding deposited by Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
