Abstract

Agriculture research is a continuous process and requires updated inflow of concord knowledge, which is generally managed through libraries in research institutions. The inflow of knowledge can be achieved through different types of sources such as books, journals, research reviews, electronic media etc. However, most of them involve cost and may not be affordable by every one. But the information on online journals free of cost has fulfilled the dream of those researchers who were not able to afford subscription to these journals. There is need to enlist such journals so that the information with respect to such journals is easily available to researchers. This paper presents the importance of free e-journals available in the field of agriculture and also consolidate the list of 202 e-journals with their website address.

Abstract

Analyses 743 research papers comprising 435 main articles and 308 short communications published (Total 743) in nine volumes 10 to 18, (1993 - 2001) in Journal of Oilseed Research (JOR), based on earlier study covering Vol.1-9 (1984 to 1992) comprising 241 Main Articles and 257 Short communications (Total 498 papers). The study gives status of oilseed research and importance of oilseeds in India. Also gives account of JOR, objectives and methodology of this study. Analyses papers into year wise distribution, length of articles, use of tables, graphs diagrams. Finds authorship pattern and calculates collaboration coefficients. Also finds out profilic contributors, location of papers, subject wise distribution and crop wise distribution. The paper analyses in details citations given in these articles in various tables viz number of citations per article and types of documents used for citations. Paper also rankes periodicals and apply Brodford Law.

Abstract

For the first time ultrasonic velocity- density correlations have applied to ionic and isotopic liquids. Familiar Auerbach relation, Altenburg relation and temperature dependent correlation were employed to calculate surface tension of N-octyl-3-methyl pyridiniumtetraflouoroborate[o3mpy][BF₄] and five pairs of isotopic liquids named, H₂O-D₂O,C₆H₆-C₆D₆,C₆H₁₂-C₆D₁₂, CH₃OH-CH₃OD and C₂H₅OH-C₂H₅OD. All the correlations yield excellent results except Auerbach relation. For the applicability of this relation we have modified it. The modified Auerbach relation also gives good agreement with the experimental values of surface tension.

Abstract

The proposal for the establishment of SAARC was mooted by President Zia-ur-Rehman of Bangladesh and despite initial reservation exhibited by India and Pakistan. SAARC was born in December 1985. Since then it has provided the institutional framework for promoting regional cooperation among South Asian Countries. SAARC was conceived as an association for purely economic, social and cultural cooperation but working of SAARC reveals that it has two main dimensions: Economic and political. Even though SAARC is one of the youngest regional economic groupings, it has made rapid progress in terms of initiatives aimed at fostering an economic integration in the region. Over the past decade or so, the South Asian countries have undertaken some significant reforms of their economies to integrate themselves more intensively with the world economy.

Abstract

The present investigation was conducted in Kota region of Rajasthan purposively because this region stands first in area 822329 hactare and production 1197758 tonnes of soybean cultivation among all ten agriculture regions of Rajasthan. Kota region comprises four districts viz., Kota, Baran, Bundi and Jhalawar. Out of these two districts viz., Kota and Jhalawar were selected purposively for this study because of highest area and production. Kota and Jhalawar districts comprise five and seven tehsils, respectively. Out of which two tehsil from Kota (Degod and Ramganj Mandi ) and two tehsil from Jhalawar (Khanpur and Manohar Thana) (as per the data of 2014-15) district were selected randomly. Out of these 6 villages were selected from each selected tehsil on the basis of random sampling method. Thus, the total 24 villages, were selected. List of all the soybean cultivators was prepared from each of the selected village, with the help of Patwari and agriculture supervisor, eight to twelve farmers were selected by using proportionate random sampling technique as per availability so as to make the sample size 220. More than half of the respondents were medium adopters of recommended soybean cultivation practices. The good adoption was about recommended soybean cultivation practices like “Soil and field preparation” “High yielding varieties (HYVs)” and “Seed rate, spacing and depth of sowing” . While minimum adoption about “Plant protection measures” and “Seed treatment”.

Abstract

Whether adultery should be considered as an offence against public morality or left to the operation of the civil laws has been the subject of much discussion.Adultery as a crime can be constituted by even a single act of sexual intercourse of a married woman with a married man other than her husband, if it is by consent and does not come within the category of rape. The explanation seems simple but there are several issues debatable connected with it and the problem is much bigger than a sexual act. First of all the said law of adultery was enacted way back in 1860 during the British rule of India. What is most significant is that even at that time the law criminalizing adultery did not exist at all. The main person involved in drafting the said law himself was not in a favour of criminalizing the act. However the law was still enacted and enforced taking into regard the unequal and pitiable position of woman in India at that time when they were considered as a property of man. The said provision has been challenged before the courts and criticized widely on several occasions but the Courts in India have let the provision stand in total disregard of the fact that the position of woman has drastically changed with time in the country and now woman are not only considered socially equal to men but even in some instances above them. Secondly the language of the Section 497 of IPC, 1860 or Section 198 (2) of Cr, P. C., 1973 and its applicability itself spells gender inequality and prejudice and seems to be against the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India. Theprovision calls for prosecution of only the adulterer man and not the adulteress wife. All these factors definitely render the relevant provisions under Indian Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code as unconstitutional discriminatory to men and women both and themselves promote gender inequality. It is significant and noteworthy that while in Britain itself the law on adultery has been abolished even as a tort way back in 1857, the law was also abolished in Japan in 1947, in South Korea in 2015 and by most of the countries except countries like Philippines, United States and Islamic States like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq etc. Most of the European countries like Malta, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey, Romania etc., and the earlier laws of adultery as a crime have been abolished long back. Even some states of US like West Virginia, Colorado and New Hampshire have abolished the law. Even the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and the United Nations Working Group on Discrimination Against Women in Law and Practice have called for abolition of criminalization of adultery saying it leads to discrimination and violence against women. In some Islamic countries punishments like stoning and flogging have been assigned for adultery and many cases of honour killing have been noticed. The issue of adultery and the act is more or less a moral crime and an issue to be decided between the families themselves rather than making it public and thereby making the whole issue more complex to resolve between a husband and wife within their four walls.

Abstract

Handloom has been a vintage industry. Its ischolar_mains can be dated back to the early stages of human civilization. Over time thehandloom sectorhas endured various challenges and setbacks. Some of the major challenges faced have been due to the advancement of technological know-how and mechanizing of the production process. Lack of modernization, migration of workers to other fields have been some of the other problems faced by this industry. All these problems have left a huge impact on the workforce or employees engaged in this industry and hence the problems have become graver. On the other hand, employee engagement and work engagement, in particular, have been recognized to influence the work performance of the employees as well as the overall performance of the organization. With this paper, we will try and understand how work engagement and employee engagement can aid the handloom industry to tackle its problems.
