Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the major causes of pain and physical disability. The assessment and treatment of knee osteoarthritis is mostly localized to knee, however compensatory biomechanical changes occurring at knee are also altering foot posture which is further influencing the progression of OA. So the present study has been designed to investigate the relationship between different grades of knee osteoarthritis and foot posture. In the present study 40 patients (80 knees) were taken and divided into four groups according to Kellgen and Lawrence Scale on the basis of radiographs. The foot posture was assessed using the foot posture index (FPI-6). Coefficient of correlation was used to investigate the relationship between grades of knee OA and foot posture. ANOVA was used for comparison of foot posture index scores among the different grades. Further analysis was done using Tukey HSD post hoc test. Findings of the study suggested a significant positive correlation between grades of Knee Osteoarthritis and foot posture index (r=0.84, p< 0.0001). The study concluded that Grade 3 and Grade 4 of Knee Osteoarthritis exhibits either a pronated or highly pronated foot, while near normal foot was observed in grade 1 and 2. Thus compensatory foot changes are more prominent in grade 3 and 4 of OA.Keywords

The present study aims at designing and evaluating a buccal mucoadhesive tablet of Metronidazole using mucoadhesive polymers like HPMC, Sodium CMC, Carbopol 934, Ethyl cellulose. Both Non aqueous granulation and direct compression methods were studied. Various evaluation parameters such as swelling index, ex-vivo mucoadhesive strength, in-vitro drug release, drug content and in-vitro dissolution parameters were studied for the formulation. Formulation MT07 with HPMC, Carbopol and ethyl cellulose was found to have good mucoadhesive strength, an in-vitro release of 7 hrs and good swelling index and other evaluation parameters. The drug release mechanism was found to be controlled by diffusion mechanism and follows zero order dissolution pattern. No drug - excipient interaction was seen in FTIR spectrum The formulation MT07 can be effectively used as buccal mucoadhesive tablet, to reduce the metronidazole dose and its adverse effects. Keywords

Any organization desires to have highly skilled and potential people on rolls who can become the competitive advantage for the company. Engaging such people requires a lot of motivation in terms of work, workplace culture, supervisors and of course compensation. There are many HR practices that an organization implements to engage people because engagement leads to productivity. The only way HR dept can sustain the competitive advantage is by continuously reinventing the fundamentals of people management. This paper is a part of a larger study on HR Practices and its relationship with employee retention. It attempts to explore the employees’ perspective of HR practices in the organization. The objective of this research paper is to understand what employees think about organizational practices. In order to carry out the study Focus group discussions were conducted with thirty IT employees of different levels in Bangalore. Analysis of responses is done using the software Nvivo10. Themes have been drawn and discussed in detail. It emphasizes the need for organizations to adapt employee friendly practices to attract and retain the top talent. Keywords

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity, decreases quality of life and shortened life expectancy. The renin angiotensin system is considered to be involved in most of the pathological processes that result in diabetic nephropathy. Various subsystems of RAAS contribute to the disease pathology. One of these involves angiotensin II (Ang II) which shows increased activity during diabetic nephropathy. Evidence indicates interaction between advanced glycation end products (AGEs), activated protein kinase C (PKC) and angiotensin II provoke the progression of DN. Inhibitors of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACEIs), renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS), AGEs, and PKC have been tested for slowing down the progression of DN. This review focuses on the latest published data dealing with the pathophysiology, stages of DN, pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of DN.Keywords
