A study to assess the knowledge and practice of staff nurses regarding needle stick injury in J.S.S Hospital, Mysuru with a view to develop a informational pamphlet. OBJECTIVES OF STUDY: 1. To assess the knowledge and practice of staff nurses regarding needle stick injury. 2. To find out the relationship between knowledge and practice of staff nurses regarding needle stick injury. 3. To find out the association between knowledge and practice of staff nurses with their selected personal variables. METHODS: Study was descriptive in nature and Sample size was 60 staff nurses. Non probability and convenient sampling technique was used for the collection of data. The data collection was done by structured knowledge questionnaire and observational checklist and collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: The findings of the study highlights that the majority 50(83.4%) of staff nurses had average knowledge, 5(8.3%) had poor knowledge and only 5(8.3%) had good knowledge. The mean and SD of the knowledge scores are 14 and ±3.03 respectively. 1. The findings of the study highlights that the majority 40(66.7%) of staff nurses had poor practice and only 20(33.3%) of staff nurses had good practice. The mean and SD of the practice scores are 12.75 and ±2.3 respectively. 2. The analysis of findings revealed that there was a significant correlation 0.97 between knowledge and practice of staff nurses at 0.05 level significance. 3. The findings also showed that, significant association found between knowledge and exposure to educational programme is 7.41 at 0.05 level of significance, similarly there was a significant association found between practice and exposure to educational programme is 7.34 at 0.05 level of significance. CONCLUSION: The following conclusions were drawn on the basis of the findings of the study. This study shows that there was a average knowledge and poor practice regarding needle stick injury among the staff nurses.Keywords

A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge questionnaire regarding human rights and legal responsibilities of mentally ill among students. Data was collected by administering structured knowledge questionnaire regarding human rights and legal responsibilities of mentally ill. The study was conducted at JSS College of Nursing, JSS School of Nursing, Mysuru among 60 III year BSc nursing and GNM III year students who were selected by using non probability convenience sampling technique. The study result revealed that 70% of nursing students had average knowledge, 21.6% had poor knowledge and 8.4% had good knowledge among students.Keywords

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study is to determine the effectiveness of structure teaching programme on Teenage pregnancy among adolescent girls selected College of Nursing, Mysuru. OBJECTVES: 1. To assess the knowledge regarding teenage pregnancy among adolescent girls. 2. To assess the effectiveness of structure teaching programme on knowledge regarding teenage pregnancy among adolescent girls. 3. To find out the association between pre-test knowledge of adolescent girls regarding teenage pregnancy with selected demographic variable. METHODS: In this study, one group is pre test and post test, pre experimental design was used and non probability convenient sampling technique was adopted to select adolescent girls in Vikram College of Nursing, Mysuru. Pilot study was conducted, the tool and study design were found to be feasible. Data were collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire. Structure teaching programme were given to the adolescent girls. The data were collected and analyse using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULT: The result of the study reveal that the significance of difference between mean pre test and mean post test scores which was statistically tested using paired ‘t’ test. The mean difference between the mean pre test and mean post test knowledge score was 8.98 with standard deviation difference ±0.18. The paired ‘t’ (59)= 29.03 which was found to be highly significant at 0.05 level of significance. The result also shows that the knowledge score of adolescent girls had no significant association with their selected demographic variables except age, religion, previous source of information. CONCLUSION: There for, the study concluded that administration of structured teaching programme was an effective method of improve the knowledge of adolescent girls regarding teenage pregnancy.Keywords
