Aonla, Jamun and Soapnut are the wild fruits/nuts which are important from commercial point of view. The present studies were carried out to assess natural variation in these species in Himachal Pradesh so as to screen out their promising strains for higher and quality production. A wide range of variation was observed in fruit and seed characters of these species which revealed that selection for their improvement could be very effective.Keywords

Studies on variability of pod and seed characters of Albizia chinensis were conducted through the estimates of range, mean, phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation, heritability and genetic advance as percent of mean. Significant variations in pod length,breadth,thickness and seed weight were found. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was observed for pod breadth, pod thickness, pod weight and seed weight/pod. High positive values of genotypic correlation coefficient between pod and seed characters reveal that the traits are genetically controlled and selection can be very effective in tree improvement programme.- Isozyme Banding Pattern in the Hybrids of Populus ciliata x maximowiczii

Isozyme analysis has been used to identify the hybrid plants of Populus ciliata x maximowiczii. Out of five enzymes tested, three resolved well in the electrophoresis. Horizontal starch electrophoresis was used to distinguish different Poplar (Populus deltoides) clones. The enzymes; Malate dehydrogenase, Phosphoglucose isomerase, Isocitrate dehydrogenase and 6 phospho-gluconate-dehydrogenase were polymorphic. On the basis of isozyme analysis, the clones could be grouped into 5 groups. A systematic study on the crossability pattern and the culture method to be adopted for crossing Populus ciliata was conducted. The results showed grafting to be the most suitable method for greenhouse crossing of P. ciliata. It was easily crossable with Tacamahacan poplar. The progeny of P. ciliata × maximowiczii could be successfully raised, and its hybrids have performed better than the parents in the initial growth trails within potential of being cultivated in the mid-West Himalayan zone.- A Systematic Review of Type-2 Diabetes by Hadoop/Map-Reduce

Objectives: The goal is to study about the disease called Diabetes Mellitus (Type_2) and how to cure it for better healthcare. Methods/Statistical Analysis: To explore dataset of the Type-2 Diabetes and R environment statisticallythe Hadoop/Map- Reducer algorithm will be used.Findings:Analyzing the different parameters of the disease, apart from medical diagnosis and causal agents, our review shows that by using Big Data we can predict the other factors which result in demographic variations of diabetes, geographical distribution of disease and its causes and other factors needed for better outcomes of healthcare. Application/Improvements: Big data is mostly used for data analytics in business, more research is needed to make use of this technology in other fields where the data generated is huge.Keywords

Leaves are of fundamental importance to plants, representing their facility to generate power and are the sensing units of plants towards the environment. In this study, an attempt was made to characterize and compare the variations of leaf, stem and petiole morphology of various Populus deltoides Bartr. crosses. In order to achieve these objectives, twelve crosses of P. deltoides Bartr. were evaluated for different parameters. On the basis of various morphological characteristics the results revealed that each cross has a distinct color pattern of leaves. Different colors observed in these crosses varied from yellow green to green. Distinct nature of the stem altitude was found. Anthocyanin distribution of leaves was also found. In this study, the morphological traits of leaves and petiole provided discriminatory grounds for separating various populations of P. deltoides Bartr. crosses. Character of stem studies indicates that different crosses vary considerably with regard to shape, colour and nature.Keywords
