The medicinal plants represent a massive reservoir of probable microbial compounds that could be useful as a substitute to synthetic microbicides as well as are being used to develop drugs. In the present study, the powder extracts of Ricinus communis L. (Euphorbiaceae) were tested for their antioxidant activity by radical scavenging activity using 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method and antibacterial acitivity against different bacteria i.e. Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Proteus vulgaris, Enterobacter aerogenes, Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Trichophyton rubrum by disc diffusion method. Also, Phytochemical screening of methanolic extracts of Ricinus communis have been screened. Further, the antioxidant activity shows moderate to potent antioxidant activity, with the ED50 value i.e. 0.838 μg/ml. When screening for antimicrobial activity, the results were expressed in terms of the diameter of the inhibition zone: The maximum efficacy of methanolic extract was showed against Enterobacter and Aspergillus niger.Keywords

The use of plants in healing of dermatophytes, burns along with infectious diseases is frequent in conventional medicine. The expansion of new antimicrobial agents against defiant pathogens is of escalating interest. Curcuma longa (turmeric) is a diminutive rhizomatous perennial herb of Zingiberaceae (Ginger family) originates from south eastern Asia, mainly from India. It has an elongated history of therapeutic uses as it is credited with a diversity of imperative beneficial properties. Therefore, the methanolic extract of Curcuma longa used locally in folk medicine was evaluated for antibacterial activity against different bacteria i.e. Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Proteus vulgaris, Enterobacter aerogenes, Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Trichophyton rubrum by disc diffusion method. The present study has been designed with the objective to examine the methanol extract of Tectona grandis L. leaves (family Verbenaceae). In order to investigate its antimicrobial potential against strains of Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Proteus vulgaris, Enterobacter aerogenes, Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Trichophyton rubrum. The methanolic extract was found to be the most effective and showed antimicrobial activity against the organisms tested. The zone of inhibition (mm) at various concentrations of methanolic extract of Tectona grandis L. was found in the range 50mg/20disc - 200mg/20disc on tested all the test organisms. The antimicrobial activity was more significant against Salmonella typhi i.e. 21.33 mm zonetion. The study revealed the methanol extract of Tectona grandis L. leaves against microbes.Keywords

Solanum surattense and Solanum nigrum belongs to the family Solanaceae and in general commonly circulated species. Ethanomedicinally these genus are noteworthy as well as traditionally known as Yellow- barried-nightshade and Makoy in ayurvedic classification of medication. The goal of the SWOT was to scrutinize the antioxidant activity of methanolic extract of Solanum surattense and Solanum nigrum by dissimilar in-vitro methods. Extract from two plants; Solanum surattense and Solanum nigrum were tested for antioxidant activity using 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Free radical assays like as iron chelating, total antioxidant activity. It was experiential that the methanolic extract of Solanum surattense and Solanum nigrum successfully scavenged free radical activity that that of other extracts. Those antioxidant activities were compared to paradigm antioxidants such as ascorbate as well as EDTA. Our conclusion endow with the evidence that the rudimentary methanolic extract of Solanum surattense and Solanum nigrum are the probable cause of natural antioxidant, along with this vindicated its uses in folkloric medicines.
