Rapid land use change has taken place in many mid-sized cities of Iran such as Zanjan over the past three decades. This research analyzed the land use/cover change Zanjan from 1965 to 2005; identified the patterns of urban growth and the fragmentation of the urban space by applying GIS and remote sensing tools. The main driving forces of the urban changes were analyzed and the model to predict the land use/cover changes was applied. Our results show the importance of monitoring and modeling of rapid urban growth for attaining sustainable mid-sized cities in developing countries that are strongly dependent on export of natural resources. The results indicated that there had been a notable and uneven urban growth and a major loss of cropland loss between 1965 and 2005. Most of the urban growth and loss of agriculture land occurred in inner and outer suburbs. This research analyzed the land use/cover change Zanjan from 1965 to 2005, identified the patterns of urban growth and the fragmentation of the urban space, applying GIS and remote sensing tools. We believe that in urban growth modeling process there has been multi socialeconomical and physical elements in which have key rules in it, and we attempted to use some of them. Keywords

In the past few decades urban areas of Iran have grown very rapidly. According to statistics bureau of Iran, in 1996, 61.31% of the population lived in 614 urban centers-some 36 million. By 2020, this figure is estimated to rise to 80 %. This rise in urban population has resulted in continuous creation and growth of squatter settlements and in spreading of civil services until the breaking point. Serious shelter shortages, overcrowding, decreasing of the standards of public health and sanitary services, deterioration in the quality of living are the bitter fruits of the urban expansion in Iran. In this article based on a broad field study, we try to show some of physical environmental bitters which informal settlements in Iranian cities are faced with, especially in Tabriz city as a fourth biggest metropolitan area based on GIS analysis. This research is prepared in 3 parts: Part 1 the case of Tabriz city, Part 2: physical and man-made hazards, Part3: Evaluation of land tenures and dwellings. Keywords

City spaces have been attractive places from a long time ago because they are the most civilized dwelling places including important economic, scientific, recreational, medical, etc. centers and also have natural and historical attractions; that is why they are the most interesting places for tourists. Tourism development is one of the approaches to develop economy and community in different parts of the world and the researchers and programmers have always been interested in it. In this direction considering high potentials in tourism and geography conditions views, etc. Noorabad of Mamasani can benefit from such economic sources (occupation, income, foreign exchange acquisition, etc.), social, politic and cultural occasions for the regional inhabitants. The main purpose of this study is to open a door to prepare Noorabad of Mamasani and develop tourism there, it avoids digressing and exaggerating its role and at the same time highlights the strong points and actual occasions in order to be able to program and develop economic, social and cultural fields there. In the study descriptive- analytic method based on the related literature and library data and field method including observing actual tourism conditions in Noorabad of Mamasani were used ; measurement method was used for field studies and to define strong points , occasions and threats in three viewpoints of city specialists group , office workers and tourists by virtue of analytic model SWOT in order to examine and assess scientifically the touristic and Eco touristic potentials and possibilities of Noorabad . Then some approaches are emphasized to develop Noorabad city and Mamasani township. The findings state that notwithstanding Noorabad of Mamasani has strong points and occasions such as geographical situation, variety of natural sources , historical and cultural attractions , beautiful landscapes , etc. it has some weak points and threats such as lack of tourism foundations , weak management , publicities , etc. ; however , this study is to present wise strategies to help the city preparation and development .Keywords

Urbanization and city development are phenomena of present time. with respect to daily- based increasing development of urban regions in recent decades, and urbanization, preceding city- building and facing with a lot of problems such as irregular increase of population, non-target body development of cities and increase of environmental pollutions, green spaces have found a considerable role in maintaining and balancing urban environment as well as in reducing air pollutions. Accordingly, analysis and investigation of green space applicability and its per capita in Darab city as well as recommendations on giving balance to city's social and physical structure through creating green spaces can be vitally important. Present research, carried out based on analytical- descriptive method, using different information and statistics shows that despite of national and international standards, provided for green space per capita and applicability, distribution of green spaces in Darab city's fourfold areas is not balanced. There are severe shortages in this ground. Keywords
