Wetlands are important bird habitats and are also used by local people for their livelihoods. Study was undertaken to assess the status of the wetland birds in the selected wetlands by using total count method during January-March 2006. Forty two major wetlands were surveyed in four districts of Tamilnadu namely Kanyakumari, Thanjavur, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam. Totally 15,616 individual birds belonging to 65 species of 31 families were recorded. Out of the 65 species recorded, 42 were wetland and 23 were terrestrial species. The most common bird family in the study area was Ardeidae (Commonness index=0.33) followed by Anatidae (Commonness index=0.27). One threatened and two near threatened species namely, spot-billed pelican (Pelicanus philippensis) (VU), painted stork (Mycteria leucocephala) (NT) and darter (Anhinga melanogaster) (NT) were recorded. Keywords

A graph G = (V, E) with p vertices and q edges is said to be a Harmonic mean graph if it is possible to label the vertices x∈V with distinct labels f(x) from 1, 2, ..., q+1 in such a way that when each edge e =uv is labeled with f(e = uv) = [2f(u)f(v)/f(u)f(v)] or [2f(u)f(v)/f(u)f(v)], then the edge labels are distinct. In this case f is called Harmonic mean labeling of G. In this paper we prove the Harmonic mean labeling behavior for some special graphs. Keywords

A graph G=(V,E) with p vertices and q edges is said to be a skolem geometric mean graph if it is possible to label the vertices x∈V with distinct labels from 1,2 p in such a way that when each edge e= uv is labeled with f(e=uv)then the edge labels are distinct. In this paper we prove that Cm∪Pn, m≥3, n>1, Cm∪Cn, m, n≥3, nK3, nK3∪Pm, nK3∪Cm, crown and Dragon are skolem geometric mean graphs. Moreover we prove that square of a path, and wheels are not skolem Geometric mean graphs. Keywords

Software reliability has become one of the main issues for software developers. Aggregating software components into software is a perfect approach to construct software with the maturity of component market. How to analyze software reliability from the reliabilities of its software components and architecture should be answered. However, software in most of the proposed reliability analysis methods is static, while software development is a dynamic process, especially for component-based software, where pervasive process is iterative and incremental. Based on functional abstractions, this paper presents a general model for estimating the reliability of Component Based Software Systems using Role’s of Software Components with Test Suite. Keywords

Software testing is the most critical phase of the Software Development Life Cycle. The most critical components of each application have to be tested thoroughly to ensure functionalities are working as expected. This paper talks about ensuring the quality of all types of software applications by performing certain types of innovative testing techniques and optimized software testing processes.[1]

Super abrasive grinding is a development in the precision grinding technology for producing high surface finish on the surfaces. Cooling and lubrication are especially important to ensure workpiece quality because of high friction and intense heat generation involved in the process. Conventionally, liquid coolants in flood form are employed in grinding. The large contact area between the wheel and workpiece causes as tiff boundary layer around the periphery, which restricts the flow of fresh cutting fluids in the grinding zone. Hence, the usage of fluid coolant is in effective. Minimization and possibly the elimination of fluid coolants can be done by substituting their functions through the use of solid lubricants. In this work, the possibility of using Molybdenum-di-Sulphide as a lubricating medium to reduce the heat generated at the grinding zone is investigated by the use of an experimental setup in the surface grinding machine. The study of effect of wheel parameters and grinding parameters on surface roughness, surface damage, specific energy and grinding forces are analyzed and the results are compared with the results obtained in the dry grinding.- Personal and Socio-Psychological Characteristics of Rubber growers in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu

The investigation was carried out in Kanyakumari district since the district stands first in the area cultivated under rubber in Tamil Nadu. In this district, Thiruvattar block was selected based on the maximum area under rubber cultivation. Six villages namely Shurlacode, Thirparappu, Thumb code, Ponmanai, Thiruvattar and Macode which were having maximum area in rubber were selected for the study. The sample of one hundred and fifty respondents was selected from the six villages by using proportionate random sampling method. A well structured and pre-tested interview schedule was used for data collection. The analysis of personal and socio-psychological characteristics of rubber growers indicated that majority of rubber growers belonged to old age, had medium level of farming experience, college education, had farming + wage earner as their occupation, lived in joint family type, were marginal farmers, medium level of social participation, medium level of extension agency, having medium level of exposure to mass media, low level of innovativeness, medium level of scientific orientation, having medium level of risk orientation, medium level of credit orientation, and had an annual income between rupees 50,001 and rupees one lakh.
