This study aims to gain insight into some of the factors that determine the training needs of the employees in an organization. The present research aims to identify&access the training needs of the employees, to study and understand the need of training to the manager of the company for the development purpose, to study and identify the employees attitude towards the conduct of training programme. Data was collected from 120 employees in a large Paper manufacturing firm in the organization through the conviniance sampling method . The collected datas were analysed through simple percentage analysis for demographic variables, weighted average method, chi square test&anova for determining the training needs of the employees. The results indicated that Proper Feedback may be given to the employees in his/her Performance. A good interpersonal relationship should be maintained for the smooth functioning of the organizational activities. The duration of the Training programs should be increased. This helps to the employees and the Trainees to build a rapport and exchange ideasKeywords

The Quality of Work Life of an organization can be assessed by opinions of employees on statements regarding quality of work life [QWL] aspects. The aim of this study was to analyze the QWL among employees of different IT companies in Coimbatore region. The sample consists of 132 IT companies employees in Coimbatore. The data collected from the QWL were analyzed through descriptive statistics&correlation and ANOVA. The instrument used for analyzing the QWL is a predetermined structured questionnaire .Keywords

The mathematical model of two-species oscillator is discussed. A simple approximate analytical expression of concentration profiles is derived in terms of all dimensionless parameters. Furthermore, in this work we employ the Homotopy perturbation method to solve the non-linear reaction equations. Moreover, the analytical results have been compared to the numerical simulation using Matlab program. The simulated results are agreed with the appropriate theories.Keywords

The status of Andaman waters around Coral reef Island involving study of six stations for biological parameters viz. phytoplankton for species composition, density, pigment, their productivity, biomass and total bacterial count in the surface and sediment water were investigated for pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. Post-monsoon data shows dominance of phytoplankton counts over pre-monsoon study. Diatoms were more common than flagellates and dinoflagellates. Phaeophytin values were consistently higher than chlorophyll, these indicate abundance of detritus and degraded chlorophyll in water. The highest number of heterotropic bacteria counts were recorded in nutrient agar (N.A) medium for both season. There were also higher counts of coliform and pathogenic bacteria for post-monsoon season at one station-HAV-IV. Sediment samples from pre monsoon shows higher counts of pathogenic bacteria at most season, whereas, in post-monsoon sediment, samples show general absence of these organism. It may be due to untreated effluents and other discharges. The overall study suggests a trend towards unproductive status of water quality around coral reef island which may be due to improper management of biological system.- A Distributional Approach for Image Retrieval Using Hotelling's T-Square Statistic

ICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, Vol 6, No 3 (2016), Pagination: 1207-1212Abstract
This paper proposes a novel method, based on a statistical probability distributional approach, Hotelling's T2 statistic and Orthogonality test. If the input query image is structured, it is segmented into various regions according to its nature and structure. Otherwise, the image is treated as textured; and it is considered for the experiment as it is. The test statistic T2 is applied on each region and compares it to the target image. If the test of hypothesis is accepted, it is inferred that the query and target images are same or similar. Otherwise, it is assumed that they belong to different groups. Moreover, the Eigen vectors are computed on each region, and the orthogonality test is employed to measure the angle between the two images. The obtained results outperform the existing methods.Keywords

In this paper, we propose a novel, user-centric approach to DoS impact measurement. Our key insight is that DoS always causes degradation of service quality, and a metric that holistically captures a human user’s QoS perception will be applicable to all test scenarios. For each popular application, we specify its QoS requirements, consisting of relevant traffic measurements and corresponding thresholds that define good service ranges. We observe traffic as a collection of high-level tasks, called “transactions”. Each legitimate transaction is evaluated against its application’s QoS requirements; transactions that do not meet all the requirements are considered “failed". We aggregate information about transaction failure into several intuitive qualitative and quantitative composite metrics to expose the precise interaction of the DoS attack with the legitimate traffic.Keywords

Image segmentation partitions the image space into some non-overlapping meaningful homogeneous regions. These regions should have a strong correlation with the objects in the image. The success of an image analysis system depends on the quality of segmentation. Edge detection is a critical element in image processing, since edges contain a major function of image information. The function of edge detection is to identify the boundaries of homogeneous regions in an image based on properties such as intensity and texture. Many edge detection algorithms have been developed based on computation of the intensity gradient vector, which, in general, is sensitive to noise in the image. In order to suppress the noise, the operator based on fuzzy technique is introduced in order to simulate at a mathematical level the compensatory behavior in process of decision making or subjective evaluation. The following paper introduces such operators on hand of computer vision application.In this paper, a novel method based on fuzzy inference system reasoning strategy is proposed for edge detection in digital images without determining the threshold value. The proposed approach begins by segmenting the images into regions using floating 3×3 binary matrices. The edge pixels are mapped to a range of values distinct from each other. The robustness of the proposed method results for different captured images are compared to those obtained with the linear Sobel operator. It is gave a permanent effect in the lines smoothness and straightness for the straight lines and good roundness for the curved lines. In the same time the corners get sharper and can be defined easily for both gray and color images.

In this work, the dry sliding wear behaviour and friction characteristics of aluminium alloy Al6061 silicon carbide particulates (SiCp) of size 43 µm reinforced composites were evaluated through laboratory experiments. The content of SiCp in the alloy was varied from 5% to 35% in steps of 5% by weight. The metal matrix composites were manufactured using stir casting technique. A pin-on-disc wear testing machine was used to evaluate the wear rate, in which an EN-31 steel disc was used as a counter face. Results indicated that the wear rates of the composites were lower than that of the matrix alloy and further reduction in wear rate was achieved by increasing the SiCp content. The wear rate increased for an increase in the load and sliding velocity. Increase in the applied load increased the wear severity by changing the wear mechanism from abrasion to particle cracking. The observations have been explained using scanning electron microscopy analysis of the worn surfaces. The coefficient of friction was evaluated using friction forces measured from the tests. The coefficient of friction decreased for an increase in the SiCp content at low sliding velocity.Keywords

This paper presents the influence of the spindle speed and feed rate of the drilling on machinability of metal matrix composites (MMC) manufactured using stir casting technique. The drilling of MMC is carried out using Ti-Al-N coated and uncoated solid carbide drills. Analysis of variance technique is used to find the percentage of contribution for each drilling parameters and then regression equations were developed to find the thrust force and torque. The drilling parameters were also optimized using Genetic Algorithm. For the optimum values of spindle speed and feed rate, the tool life in terms of tool wear and number of holes drilled was compared for the cases of coated and uncoated drills. From the analysis, it was inferred that feed rate is the significant factor affecting thrust force and torque. Coated solid carbide drill performed than better than the uncoated carbide drill.Keywords

Background/Objectives: The objective of our research work is to increase the productivity of the billet sawing machine. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In this research work we suggest some modification to the existing machine by redesigning the some parts of the auto loader, main and shuttle vice. The rod resting area and feeder area of the auto loader has been modified by raising the height of the rod resting area and also designed the feeder to hold two rods vertically. And also the dimensions of the main vice and the shuttle vice have been redesigned to hold the two rods vertically. Findings: The proposed billet sawing machine thus enables to cut two rods at the same time in order to reduce the cutting time and also could be improved 50 to 75 % (approx.) of the productivity in modern manufacturing environment than the existing machine.
