Sapota fruit tree biomass cannot be estimated using general forest tree allometric equations involving measurement of diameter at breast height (DBH) as grafted sapota tree branches below this height. Therefore grafted sapota trees of commercial orchards require an independent allometric equation for nondestructive estimation of tree biomass. Sapota allometric equations were hence developed with a destructive sampling of grafted sapota trees using parameters other than DBH and compared with other equations developed for grafted mangoes. The selected allometric parameters were significantly related to the age of the trees. The root-to-shoot ratio also differed from those reported for forest trees. The biomass expansion factor by and large attained stability beyond 16 years of tree age. The equations so developed generally fitted the data well, and in most cases, more than 50% of the observed variation in biomass was explained by primary branch girth ´ number of primary branches. There was a good agreement between the observed and the predicted biomass using both multiple linear regression and power model equations. Further, our purpose was to see if the grafted mango tree equation can predict sapota tree biomass. The results of this study confirmed that the mango equation equally predicts sapota tree biomass and hence the mango tree allometric equation can also be used for estimating sapota tree biomass efficiently.Keywords

In every country women are the back bone of the society. Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living being and an essential part of all irrespective of age, caste, creed, race, religion and economic standard. In India utilization of basic health services are very poorly due to less household income, higher illiteracy and ignorance and a host of traditional factors. This study was conducted to determine the knowledge level of the selected rural women regarding health practices. Descriptive research design was conducted. The study was carried out in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh during the year of 2013-14. Chaka block was selected purposively from which four villages were selected purposively. Thirty women from each village were selected randomly. Thus the total sample size comprised of 120. The data was tabulated and analyzed with the help of statistical techniques like frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and correlation co-efficient. It is concluded that most of the respondents were having medium level of knowledge. A significant positive association is found between age and knowledge level of respondents. Middle age group respondents have more knowledge than any other age groups. A positive significant association is found between education and knowledge level. Upto primary class respondents have more knowledge than other respondents.Keywords

Mass media plays an important role in creating awareness about new agricultural technologies among farmers. Radio is a powerful tool which can easily reach to a large number of people without the restriction of literacy, distance and cost effectiveness. The objective was to assess the adoption level of farmers towards agriculture information on radio. Descriptive research design was adopted. The study was carried out in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh during the year 2013-14. Chaka block as well as four villages was selected purposively. Fifteen farmers from each village were selected purposively. An interview schedule was prepared to collect the data. The data were tabulated and analyzed with the help of statistical techniques. It is concluded from the study that most of the respondents had fully adopted the agricultural information on radio. Adoption has no significant association with educational level and age of the respondents.Keywords
