Background: Spontaneous haemoperitoneum during pregnancy resulting from tear or rupture of a uterine or ovarian vessel is a rare yet catastrophic event, which can be a cause of maternal and foetal loss.
Case: A 31 year old woman, Para 6, arrived in our emergency in shock within 12 hours of delivery after an uneventful spontaneous vaginal delivery at a private clinic. Abdominal palpation revealed rigidity and tenderness and uterine fundus could not be appreciated. Ultrasound examination confirmed free fluid in the abdomen and pelvis. Liver, pancreas, gall bladder, spleen and pelvic organs were normal. No obvious source of bleeding was identified. After clinical and sonographic examnation, haemoperitoneum was suspected. Per operative findings were haemoperitoneum equivlent to 500 cc, uterus was intact, a small diverticulum was present on fundus and a small peritoneal tear was present on left posterior surface of uterus with oozing from underlying uterine vessels. Peritoneal tear was stitched along with bilateral uterine artery ligation. Complete haemostasis was achieved.
Result: Her postoperative period was uneventful and patient was discharged on 7th postopertive day.
Conclusion: Haemoperitoneum after normal vaginal delivery is rare but life threatening to mothers. Although very rare, obstetrician should be aware of this cause of acute abdominal pain and hypovolaemic shock in pregnancy. Close observation, prompt diagnosis and proper intervention are the keys to patient survival.

Introduction: Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a severe infection of the renal parenchyma that causes gas accumulation in the renal tissue.
Case presentation: A 58 year old female was seen in the emergency department on 20/4/15 with complains of fever with left sided abdominal pain since 8 days associated with burning micturaton. She developed loose stools watery in consistency since 4 days. No blood was seen in stools. Her chief complain on admission was shortness of breath. She was diagnosed to have emphysematous pyelonephritis and was successfully treated.
Conclusion: Patients with emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) should be treated with aggressive medical management and surgical intervention whenever indicated.

Cysticercosis is a common tropical disease. One of the uncommon manifestations of cysticercosis and a rare complication is its disseminated form. We report an immunocompetent patient with disseminated cysticercosis who had involvement of the brain, subcutaneous tissues, eyes and skeletal muscles and presented with seizures. He was otherwise asymptomatic in spite of the extensive involvement of multiple organs. A planned approach to therapy is necessary to prevent complications.- Development of Ready to Reconstitute Enteral Feed and its Quality Evaluation

We present a case of undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of liver (UESL), a rare and aggressive tumour with poor prognosis. It is an uncommon hepatic tumour, of mesenchymal origin, usually observed in children, and cases in adults are rare. We present a case in a 22 year old healthy male with only mild abdominal pain. On admission the patient had normal aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase. He also tested negative for hepatitis and tumour markers. On Computed tomography (CT) scan a large solid cystic mass was seen which was diagnosed as UESL on immunohistochemistry.Keywords

Among several factors of depression chronic illness or fatal disease is one, especially when it results in physical deformity or early death and of which leprosy refers to the former. Ignorance about the disease and social value about the disease can at once land a person in depression on utterance of the diagnosis. A psychological study was carried out on 300 leprosy patients with an aim to study depression and Anxiety in them. The sample comprised of male and female leprosy patients aged between 18 to 60 years, selected from Government O.P.D's from Agra and Kanpur district by using purposive sample technique. Depression was measured with the help of "Depression Scale" by S.E. Krug and J.E. Laughlin and Anxiety was measured IPAT Anxiety scale by Samuel E. Krug and R.B. Cattle. The data was statistically analyzed using Chi-square test and t-test. of these, 33% of the male and 46% of the female leprosy patients were suffering from depression and 20.66% of the male leprosy patients and 16.00% of the female leprosy patients were suffering from depression with anxiety (mixed disorder).The results revealed that female leprosy patients had significantly more depression than male leprosy patients. The study suggested that there is need of regular psychological counseling and follow up of leprosy patients in the existing health care facilities.Keywords

Leprosy is a medical problem as well as social problem because it creates lots of psychosocial and economical problems. In the present study an attempt was made to measure anxiety in patients with leprosy in Agra and Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The sample (N=300) consisted of 150 male and 150 female patients with leprosy from each districts between age ranged 18-60 years. Anxiety score of the study was obtained with the help of anxiety scale administered after establishment of rapport in the clinical setup with leprosy patients. Analysis of the data was made by computing mean, standard deviation, t-test and chi-square test for statistical significance. Result indicated that male patient with leprosy had significantly higher anxiety than female patients with leprosy. It was seen that 45.33% of the male and 36.66% of the female patients were suffering from anxiety. Majority of the patients with leprosy come from poor socio-economic background. The findings of this study emphasize the importance and need of intervention on economic rehabilitation for patients with leprosy. A supportive approach with reassurance is quite effective for the patients and it is suggested that relaxation techniques and psychotherapy is essential for leprosy patients suffering with anxiety.Keywords

In the era of Anthropocene, characterized by a dramatic increase in anthropogenic pressure, global changes are challenging the capacity of planet Earth to sustain the development of human societies in the long term. In the past two decades, this concern has fostered worldwide efforts to develop integrated studies of the ‘critical zone’ (CZ), the outer skin of the Earth, extending from the canopy top to the bottom of the aquifer, hosting the continental biosphere and providing basic human needs such as water, food, energy and ecosystem services1 . Environmental processes within the CZ, such as energy and mass exchange, formation of soil, streamflow and evolution of landscape are critical to sustain biodiversity as well as humanity 2,3 . However, with rapid socio-economic development, the CZ is subjected to increasing stress from anthropogenic forcings such as the growth in human and livestock populations, increase in land use, global environmental changes, and expanding consumption patterns4 . The expanding needs for sustainable development call for understanding, predicting and managing the complexity as well as dynamics within the CZ and to study its feedback with other compartments of the environmental systems5,6 . The main challenge faced by the CZ research is to integrate effectively the multiple disciplines at stake, from geosciences, biological sciences, ecology, hydrology, soil science to social sciences, working within a wide range of temporal and spatial scales7,8 . The interdisciplinary and multiscale study of terrestrial ecosystem processes can be best addressed by critical zone observatories (CZOs), where domain experts across different disciplines study various aspects of the CZ. This present study aims to assess the impact of a 10-week cognitive group treatment on dietary intake, physical activity, anthropometry and body composition parameters among a group of 66 volunteer Indian working women. The need to combat the rising prevalence of obesity and its associated health risks among working women by exploring the potential benefits. The results revealed a significant reduction in body weight, fat mass, waist circumference, hip circumference, body mass index, waist–hip ratio, waist–height ratio and conicity index among participants of the cognitive group treatment. Overall, the cognitive group treatment showed promising results in helping Indian working women cope with eating disorders, and improve their anthropometry and body composition parameters. These findings emphasize the potential of cognitive group interventions in promoting healthier lifestyles among this population.Keywords
