Abstract

With the explosive growth of multimedia applications, the demand for high performance and low power digital signal processing is getting higher and higher. Finite impulse response (FIR) filters are one of the most widely used fundamental devices performed in DSP systems. This Paper presents a survey on designing Low Area and Low Power Parallel FIR Filter. By using Fast FIR filtering algorithms (FFA), this parallel FIR structures can Lead to significant hardware savings from the existing FFA Parallel FIR filter. In this paper, Traditional FIR filter structure and FFA based FIR filter structure, Symmetric convolution based FFA FIR filter structure are designed for 2-parallel (2×2) and 3-parallel (3×3).

Abstract

Data mining is receiving more attention to find the underlying patterns in crime data. It is need to act quickly to reduce crime activity and find out the links between various available data sources. The government is continuing to call upon modern geographic information systems to find the more intensive area of crime in order to protect their communities and assets. Real time solutions can provide significant resources and push the capability of law enforcement closer to the pulse of criminal activity.
There are 3 algorithms to study the pattern of any point data and for better inferences and interpretation. In this study, Mean Algorithm using Linguistic variable finds the most occurred crime at particular location among different types of crime. Fuzzy associations rule algorithm on point data formulate the rules among the crimes is a novel means for knowledge discovery in the crime domain, supported by experimental results using Mapobject and VB. Mean algorithm using crime find the location not shown by earlier algorithm where sensitivity of crime is high.

Abstract

Welding has come to stay as an important fabrication technique since the past six decades, after its economy and productivity have been established. In the early days of fabrication by welding, statements like 'Welding promotes brittle failure' were often made to focus the attention towards the influence of weld defects. It is recorded in numerous documents of the international Institute of Welding that brittle as well as fatigue failures originated from weld defects, which acted as fracture initiation sites. Over the years, detailed investigations were carried out to understand the fracture behaviour of welded joints, particularly as to the significance of weld defects.

Abstract

The present decade has seen an important development in the field of welding viz., the application of the principles of fracture mechanics for analysing the fracture behaviour of welded joints. This is a direct result of the long-standing efforts made in characterising the influence of the weld defects like cracks, on the fracture behaviour of weldments. Probably the most important consequence of the development of various test procedures of fracture mechanics is the possibility of applying these quantitative principles to structural steels, with reasonably small specimens. In this respect, first attempt has been made to determine the fracture toughness parameters of one of the most widely used fusion-weldable quality structural steel, IS 2062. It is hoped that these parameters will help the designers and fabricators in welding industry to arrive at a fail-safe design and understand the consequences of defects that may be present in these joints.
