The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) laid the basic milestones for quality assurance. The concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) became popular in the main stream of educational organization as well. This element identified the close relation between staff development and training with the institution's objectives. The TQM framework was based on core values and concepts. Quality circles consist of small group of people who meet to form a structured approach towards problem solving. It would include determining different performance measures and how the targets could be achieved. The most important feature of quality management is improvement in teachinglearning process. TQM is to be implemented in all areas of education including Library. Academic, Administrative and Finance. Implementing TQM in a channel must be initiated by the channel leader because of that business's ability to exercise various forms of power in running business organization. A channel leader has got number of responsibilities depending upon the level of organization which includes Supplier selection, problem identification. problem solving, minimize the conflict. To implement a TQM system, the use of expert and informational power can help to build a better communication networks.Keywords

A simple, efficient, precise and accurate Vierodt's method have been developed for the estimation of Diazepam and Propranolal in pure and in fixed dose Combination. In this method UV spectrum of Diazepam and Propranolal were overlained which involves the formation of Simultaneous equation at maximum wavelength 241 nm and 289 nm. Both the drugs obeyed Beer's law in the concentration range 2-25 μg/ml and 1-45 μg/ml for Diazepam and Propranolal , respectively. The accuracy of the method was determined by recovery studies and was found to be 100.14±0.219 % and 100.17±0.134 % for Diazepam and Propranolal , respectively. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines. The method was found to be simple, economic, accurate and reproducible and can be used for routine analysis of Diazepam and Propranolal in pure and in fixed dose combination.Keywords

Compatibility must be established between the active ingredient and other excipients to produce a stable efficacious, attractive and safe product.
In this report FTIR studies were performed and major peaks were determined by the (FTIR-8400S Shimadzu, Japan) will show band shift and broadening compared to the spectra of pure drug. To study the interaction between AmbroxolHCl, selected excipients (sorbitol, mannitol, sucrose).IR spectra of Ambroxol hydrochloride bands were found at 1595-1545 cm-1 for aromatic C=C stretching, 3350-3250cm-1 for aromatic primary amine NH stretch, 3400-3345 cm-1 for intermolecular hydrogen bonded OH stretch and 700-600 cm-1 for C-Br stretching. This confirms the identity of Ambroxol hydrochloride.

Toxins are naturally present in a wide variety of plants. Plants evolve to generate natural products as a means of defence against animals. Phytotoxins have been reported for many useful effects. Some plants produce toxins that can severely harm or destroy any herbivore. They can be modified to exemplify improved affinity and efficacy for health endorsement. Several of these plants are commonly consumed as food. They have been developed as an evolutionary movement for self-protection. These toxic substances when taken in considerable amount can be harmful to human health and cause problems. This review gives an outline on different plant toxins, their mechanism of action and different toxicological effects due to plant toxins.Keywords

Wound healing involves a regulated sequence of cellular activity. These activities provide the foundation for the mechanisms of wound repair. Successful wound care involves optimizing local and systemic conditions in combination with an ideal wound healing environment. The basic steps of wound management are prevention of wound contamination, debridement of dead and dying tissue, removal of debris and contaminants, provision of adequate wound drainage, promotion of a viable vascular bed and selection of an appropriate method of closure. A wide variety of preparations and remedies of non-organic, organic, biogenic, and phytogenic origin have been devised and used in the topical treatment of burns. Many different strategies have been developed to influence this wound environment to provide a pathogen-free, protected, and moist area for healing to occur. This review discusses the physiology, type and management of burn wounds and future directions for this field.References

Anticancer or antineoplastic drugs are used to treat malignancies. Drug therapy may be used alone or in combination with other treatments such as surgery or radiation therapy. The available anticancer drugs have distinct mechanisms of action which may vary in their effects on different types of normal and cancer cells. A single cure for cancer has proved elusive since there is not a single type of cancer but as many as 100 different types of cancer. In addition, there are very few demonstrable biochemical differences between cancerous cells and normal cells. For this reason the effectiveness of many anticancer drugs is limited by their toxicity to normal rapidly growing cells. A final problem is that cancerous cells which are initially suppressed by a specific drug may develop a resistance to that drug. For this reason cancer chemotherapy may consist of using several drugs in combination for varying lengths of time.Keywords

Chewing gums are mobile drug delivery system. Today chewing gum is an excellent drug delivery system for self medication and can be administered directly without water. Medicated chewing gums are solid, single dose preparation with a base consisting mainly gums that are intended to be chewed but not swallowed. It is used for both local and systemic effects. This drug delivery system can release drug through oral mucosa directly in to the systemic circulation. This delivery system has many advantages like fast onset of action, no first pass metabolism, taste masking, patient compliance, less side effects etc. For the dissolution of chewing gums there is no any apparatus in USP but in European Pharmacopoeia there is as such method for dissolution purpose. Most of the chewing gums were used for smoking cessation, travel illness, pain relief and prevention of dental caries, alleviation of xerostomia, vitamin or mineral supplementation. It was concluded that chewing gum delivery system is convenient, easy to administer- anywhere, anytime and its pleasant taste improves patient compliance. Chewing gum is viable alternative to traditional dosage forms for drugs intended to cure or relieve disease in the oral cavity.Keywords

India has largest number of people suffering from diabetes mellitus in the world. Diabetes mellitus is a progressive disease characterized by both insulin resistance and cell failure, resulting in a decline in insulin secretion and increased blood glucose levels. During the past three decades, various approaches have been studied for delivery of insulin. To eliminate the needle from insulin delivery and to replace it with non-invasive alternative routes has driven rigorous pharmaceutical research to replace the injectable forms of insulin. Recently, various approaches have been studied involving many strategies using various technologies that have shown success in delivering insulin, which are designed to overcome the inherent barriers for insulin uptake across the gastrointestinal tract, mucosal membranes and skin. New approaches to diabetes mellitus herapy have been shown to improve survival and well being of patients with disease. With increasing translational research and a better understanding of the molecular basis of diabetes mellitus, a number of targets have been identified in various preclinical studies. In this review diabetes mellitus, type, strategies with special emphasis on advancement in treatment of diabetes mellitusby non invensive therapies has been discussed in detail.Keywords

Aqueous extracts of bulb of Allium sativum and bark of Ficus religiosa were taken for anthelmintic activity against Indian earthworm Pheritima posthuma. Three concentrations (25, 50 and 100 mg/ml) of each extracts were studied in activity, which involved the determination of time of paralysis and time of death of the worm. Piperazine citrate (10 mg/ml) was used as a reference standard. Dose dependent activity was observed in both plant extracts but Allium sativum shows more activity as compared to Ficus religiosa. It was concluded that the studied plants had anthelmintic activity. Therefore, in vivo trials may be conducted for further evidence for their use in animals on scientific basis.Keywords

Drug design is an iterative process which begins with a compound that displays an interesting biological profile and ends with optimizing both the activity profile for the molecule and its chemical synthesis. The process is initiated when the chemist conceives a hypothesis which relates the chemical features of the molecule (or series of molecules) to the biological activity. Without a detailed understanding of the biochemical process which is not responsible for activity, the hypothesis generally is refined by examining structural similarities and differences for active and inactive molecules. Two distinct approaches are possible in the area of computer-aided drug design. First one is when the molecular structure of the target macromolecule is known the methods are obvious and direct and have achieved a high level of sophistication and second one is when the molecular structure of the target molecule is not known that is indirect drug design.Keywords

A new simple spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of binary mixtures of Candesartan cilexetil (CAND) and Hydrochalorothiazide (HCTZ), without prior separation. The method is based on the multi-wavelength technique i.e. classical least square (CLS) method. The tablet is determined by the multi-wavelength technique (CLS), at the wavelengths range of 215-225 nm over the concentration ranges of 2.5-50 and 1-30 μg/mL with mean recovery more than 98% for both drugs CAND and HCTZ, respectively. The proposed spectrophotometric method was validated and successfully applied for the assay of drug combination in several laboratory-prepared mixtures and commercial tablets.Keywords

Telmisartan hydrochloride (TELM), Amlodipine besylate (AMLO), and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) are coformulated in a single-dose combination for the treatment of hypertensive patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on either component monotherapy. In this work, chemometric method, classical least squares (CLS) was applied for simultaneous Spectrophotometric determination of TELM, AML and HCTZ in their combined pharmaceutical tablets. The optimum assay conditions were established and the proposed method was successfully applied for the assay of the ternary mixtures of drugs and combined pharmaceutical tablets with excellent recoveries. No interference was observed from common pharmaceutical additives. The results were favorably compared with those obtained by a reference HPLC method.Keywords

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of polymer percentage on the in vitro release profile of Metoclopramide Hydrochloride. Several controlled release matrices of Metoclopramide Hydrochloride with different proportions of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (viscosity 35-65 cps) and microcrystalline cellulose as water soluble filler were prepared. In this study different percentages of polymers 40, 50 and 60% were used for the development of floating matrix tablet of metoclopramide hydrochloride. The results showed that with increase in polymer concentration release of drug from matrices decreases and swelling of matrices increases. When an appropriate blend of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (50%) and microcrystalline cellulose was used, the drug release became more uniform and its release fluctuations were diminished. The results with these polymer blends showed that it is possible to reduce the total amounts of polymer in each formulation. According to kinetic analysis data, drug release from these matrix tablets did not follow Fick's law of diffusion and the results were in agreement with the earlier reports.Keywords

However, delivery of herbal drugs has need of modifications with the intention to accomplish sustained and controlled release. Previously herbal bioactives were not considered for development as novel formulations due to lack of scientific justification, processing, standardising, extracting and authentication difficulties. Also, many herbal drugs and herbal extracts regardless of their remarkable activity but show less in-vivo activity due to their poor lipophilicity or improper molecular size, resulting in less absorption and hence reduced bioavailability. Now with the innovation in the technology, novel drug delivery systems unlock the door in the direction of the development of herbal drug delivery systems with enhancing bioavailability, therapeutic effect and reduced toxicity. Many novel carriers such as nanoparticles, phytosomes, liposomes, transferosomes, etc. have been reported for successful modified delivery of various herbal drugs e.g. tacrolimus, quercetin, silybin, ginkgo, ginseng, Berberine etc. The aim of this review is to summarize various novel approaches, which have been developed for dermal and transdermal delivery of herbal drugs delivery to achieve better therapeutic response.Keywords

Many people suffer from dandruff problem. The dandruff occurs generally on the hair covered skin, specially the scalp skin. It is known to be controlled by antifungal agents. The present study was carried out to asses the effect of three minutes contact period on the efficacy of antidandruff shampoos. 1% Ketoconazole, 1% Piroctone olamine and 1% Zinc pyrithione were individually formulated in a shampoo base and were used for the study. Three groups of ten patients each with severe dandruff were taken such that each group was treated with only one of the antidandruff agent. Scoring of the dandruff was done on a 0 to 10 scale for each of the three regions of scalp at first and fourteenth day respectively. All the three antidandruff shampoo treated groups improved significantly with a contact period of three minutes rather than no contact period.- Compatibility Studies between Gatifloxacin and Pharmaceutical Excipients through Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Infra Red Spectroscopy

Proper formulation is an important aspect of any dosage form design. FTIR and Differential scanning calorimeter were used to evaluate the compatibility of Gatifloxacin and selected Excipients used in the development of suspensions formulation. In the first phase of Differential scanning calorimeter was used in the any interaction. In the next phase, excipients defined as prototype formula were tested for their compatibility with Gatifloxacin. Based on the results, methyl paraben and polyvinyl pyrrolidone were found show interaction with Gatifloxacin. Results of Differential scanning calorimeter and FT-IR demonstrated incompatibility between Gatifloxacin and MethylParaben. All the excipients defined in the prototype formula were found to be compatible with Gatifloxacin. Using the Excipients that were found to be compatible with Gatifloxacin. FT-IR and Differential scanning calorimetry was used to investigate the physicochemical compatibility between Gatifloxacin and various used in suspension manufacturing. The Gatifloxacin found to be compatatible with polyvinyl alcohol and acacia. Although interactions of Gatifloxacin with methyl paraben, polyvinyl pyrrolidone were observed. It cannot be conclusive stasted that interactions incompatibility will occur during storage at room temperature.Keywords

The present work deals with optimization of designed MCG , so that the best possible set of parameters affecting result can be selected to get the desired output. In this report nine batches of formulations (F1-F9) prepared and studied. Two variables were selected for the formulations in which first was concentration of elastomer and other was concentration of softener. The mathematical models developed for all the dependent variables using statistical analysis software Design experts 8.0.1.Percent Drug release of various formulation F2, F5, F8 andF9 was found to be 95.31, 98.74, 88.18 and 91.74. The highest Percent of Drug release among all is of F5.Keywords

Chewing gums cannot be assayed unlike tablet by the conventional method that is by crushing the tablet and weighing an accurate amount of medicament and estimating its content. For estimation of the drug content and the study of drug release process from chewing gums a new apparatus (Erweka's DRT 6 Chewing apparatus) has been designed which mimics the natural chewing actions. The drug content was found to be in the range of 95.20 to 99.21% or 28.56 to 29.76 mg. highest drug content and the lowest drug content were found with formulation F5 and formulation F7 of Ambroxol hydrochloride respectively. The present study deals with in-vitro drug release of Medicated chewing gumFormulation F5 showed highest drug release of 98.74% and formulation F7 showed lowest drug release of 85.74% respectively at the end of 30 minutes.Keywords

In the present work, ten novel 3-(4,5-dihydro-3-(naphthalen-1-yl)- N1-substituted -pyrazol-5-yl)-1H-indole [1,1a,1b.1e,2] and 3-(4,5-dihydro-3-(pyridin-3-yl)-N1-substituted-pyrazol-5-yl)-1H-indole [5,5a,5b,5e.6] were synthesized by condensation between substituted pyrazoline and substituted hydrazine in the presence of glacial acetic acid. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity using carrageenaninduced paw oedema method and compared to the well known NSAID indomethacin as a standard drug. The entire synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy.Keywords

Healing is a natural phenomenon; in which the body overcome the damaged surface or tissue and they may recover the damaged part of living tissue, but this phenomena healing rate of wound is very slow and many chance of infection in wound by microbes and its several risks to body. Hence to improve the healing phenomenon and shorter the duration of recovery of the damaged tissue. In India there are many plants used traditionally to cure the wound and the human health. The present review highlights some herbal and medicinal plant with their active compound, which are scientifically used to treatment of cut, burn, or wound as a healer.Keywords
