Besides traditional propagation and breeding practices modernized methods of plant tissue culture is considered as a crucial factor for lac host plant improvement programme. Therefore, under the current study plant parts like seed cotyledons and axillary buds of lac host plants were cultured under different auxin (2,4-D) concentrations to find their ability to produce callus. Mostly in all cases,2,4-D concentrations of 4-10 ppm resulted in maximum callus development. The results open up the possibility of improvement in lac host plant through biotechnology. However, further studies for organogenesis and regeneration into complete plantlets are required with utmost importance.- Record of Flemingia stricta as a Lac Host

Present study indicates that the percentage area under cereals, pulses, food grains, oil seeds, sugarcane and cotton in gross cropped area was to the tune of 59.31, 14.47, 73.79, 8.13, 1.30 and 4.46 per cent, respectively during 1950-51. The shifting scenario in cropping pattern was observed during 2010-11, the area under food grains was decreased and area under oilseed, sugarcane, cotton and other crops was increased. In productivity term crop wheat, rice, jowar, bajra, maize, gram, groundnut, mustard, sugarcane and cotton was tremendously increased but in case of tur it was found to be declined. Input utilization which is important tool of agricultural development through the enhancing the productivity indicates that the utilization of input such as seed, fertilizer and pesticides has been increased. The contribution of agriculture export in the total export was observed that during 1960-61, the total export from the country was worth Rs. 642 crores in which the share of agriculture commodities was 44.24 per cent. The export rose to Rs. 32553 crores with 19.40 per cent share of agriculture exports during 1990-91. During the last four decades the figures of agriculture exports increased from Rs. 6711 to Rs. 120185 crores. But, its percentage share in total exports has declined to 10.47 per cent. This may be due to proportionate increased in export of goods from other sector like manufactured goods, minerals, etc. The study clearly indicated that the introduction of green revolution during 1970-71 and advent of several economic measures during 1991 has given a significant positive impact on Indian Agriculture, which ultimately helps in pushing the upward momentum of progress of agricultural sector in the country.Keywords

This paper presents a new approach for optimal placement of Distributed Generators (DGs) utilizing a generic multi-objective performance function considering dynamic relevance (weight) factors and various levels of the DG penetration. The suggested approach can place the fixed size as well as the variable size of multiple DGs in single or multiple stage(s), considering any type of load model. The technical performance of the system, with the dynamic relevance factors is found to be better than with the fixed relevance factors approach. The effect of considering system constraints on the DG size and its location has been studied. A look up table approach is also suggested to place the DG at locations other than the most optimal one. The impact of the DG placement on the system voltage profile and line loss has also been investigated on 33-bus and 41-bus (Indian system) distribution systems. The critical cases with extreme DG output power and distribution load demand are simulated on these systems to study the technical viability of the DG planning under such circumstances.Keywords

In India, the frequency regulation service has been provided by the generators, operating under the Free Governor Mode of Operation (FGMO), with certain regulatory basis prescribed by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) in Indian Electricity Grid Code (IEGC). No incentive is being provided towards the capacity reserved for frequency regulation service. This paper presents a Support Vector Machine (SVM) based fault detection, classifi cation and location using synchrophasor measurements obtained from the optimally placed Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) for ensuring fault observability. An Integer Linear Programming (ILP) based PMU placement method is proposed, considering the minimization of installation cost as objective with line observability as its constraint. The breaker and half bus-bars scheme is considered at one of the substations to show its impact on the Optimal PMUs Placement (OPP). After the OPP, a SVM based post-fault studies are carried out using the synchrophasor measurements, available from the PMUs. Three types of SVM-Classifi ers (SVM-C) are used for the fault detection, faulted line identifi cation and the fault classifi cation. Further, fault location is carried out using Support Vector Regressor (SVR) in which four SVMs are utilized, one for each fault type. The same classifi cation and regression is carried out using Radial Basis Neural Networks (RBFNNs) and the results obtained from SVM are compared. The performance of the proposed method is studied on WSCC-9 bus system with and without consideration of the breaker and half bus-bar scheme and on New England (NE)-39 bus system.Keywords
