Filtration is a process where solid particles present in a suspension are separated from liquid or gas employing a porous medium. This article includes some advances in sintered metal filters, different types of filter media and their applications in various industries. Recent applications of ultra filtration and some advances in bag and belt filtration systems have also been discussed. This article also focuses on advantages of self cleaning filters over manual and mechanical cleaning. Thus, advances in filtration technology include the development of continuous processes to replace old batch process technology. Different self cleaning filters reduce product loss, required minimal operator intervention and improves flow consistency. Using programmable logic controllers in humidity ventilation and air conditioning system which often use sensors can cut installation and labor costs. On the global scale, we are surrounded by different filters. Thus by using latest filters and filter media it is possible to apply it in various food, starch and sugar industries, which reduces the time as well as give better quality products.Keywords

In this paper method of initial functions is used for the study of composite beam of two layers. Composite laminated beams are widely used in many structures, because this concept is very suitable for the development of light weight structures. The equations of two dimensional elasticity have been used for deriving governing equations. No assumptions regarding physical behavior of beams are made. Most of the beam theories which are currently used for analysis involve assumptions regarding the physical behavior of beams. The beam theories which are based on assumptions are of a practical utility in the case of beams of moderate thickness.Keywords

A highly sensitive spectrofluorimetric procedure is developed for the analysis of certain fluoroquinolones: norfloxacin (NFX), sparfloxacin (SFX) and ofloxacin (OFX) in their pharmaceutical dosage forms and in biological fluids. This procedure is based upon the intrinsic fluorescence of selected drugs in 0.1N H2SO4. The excitation (λext ) and emission wavelengths (λemis.) are 270 nm and 464 nm, 276 nm and 442 nm, 280 nm and 510 nm for NFX, SFX and OFX respectively. The calibration curve was rectilinear from the 0.8-2 μg mL-1, 0.4-2.8 μg mL-1 and 0.01-0.4 μg mL-1 for NFX, SFX and OFX respectively. The accuracy and precision of the proposed method was confirmed by estimating six replicates within Beer-Lambert limits for each of the investigated drug with correlation coefficient not less than 0.999. The developed method was applied successfully for the determination of the studied drugs in their pharmaceutical dosage forms and in the biological fluids with a good precision and accuracy compared to official and reported methods as revealed by statistical analysis.Keywords

At the present time it is a wide spread belief on the part of the general public that natural substances are inherently superior to synthetic substances and have played a mainstream role in the health care system for the prevention of diseases. Asparagus racemosus, traditionally known as shatavari means "who possesses a hundred husbands or acceptable to many". In Ayurveda it is considered a female tonic. Asparagus racemosus has been successfully used by some medical practitioners as an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and immunomodulator for many infectious diseases. Asparagus racemosus can also improve the milk production and reproduction capacity of dairy animals. This review summarizes the Nutritional value aspects of Asparagus racemosus.Keywords

This article highlights major scientific outcomes of the studies carried out using Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer-Next Generation (AVIRIS-NG) airborne data over the coastal regions of Mangaluru, Gulf of Kachchh (GoK) and Chilika lagoon. Various hyperspectral remote sensing techniques involving bio-optical models and spectral classification algorithms are used to achieve different objectives related to coastal ecosystem monitoring. AVIRIS-NG airborne data are used to estimate particle size of suspended solids along the coastal waters of Mangaluru using an analytical optical model. The spatial distribution of particle size of the suspended solids in the coastal waters is brought out, while along the coastal land of Mangaluru, the beaches are classified based on uniform sediment characteristics using spectral matching algorithm. AVIRIS-NG data for Pirotan reef in GoK is analysed and species-level identification of the dominant brown macroalgae is carried out. Species-level distribution of brown macroalgae is mapped and used to study the microhabitat preference of different species. At Chilika lagoon, the AVIRIS-NG data are analysed to map the abundance of submerged seagrass using bio-optical model, which provides vital information to the coastal management community. The study asserts the importance of hyperspectral data and various advanced data analysis techniques related to the estimation of geophysical parameters of the coastal waters and monitoring the vital coastal ecosystems.Keywords
