Tumour suppressor p53 has been the centre of focus of researchers trying to decipher the molecular mechanisms underlying tumourigenesis. In this review, we have summarized the critical role of p53 in tumour suppression through its effects on several cellular processes such as DNA repair, cell cycle and apoptosis. We have also discussed the role of upstream regulators which sensitize p53 to respond to different stress conditions. Post-translational modifications of p53 along with its binding partners have emerged as major determinants of its functional selectivity and specificity. Unravelling the intricacies of p53 functions have been augmented with the development of new mouse models of p53, which also have been discussed in this review.Keywords

The work against the corruption is emerging as a key development issue in India & too prevalent in many parts of the world, and likely to affect all the peoples which is a violation of human rights. Thus, identifying key institutional reforms in India, and mobilizing support for such reforms, needs to be fully integrated into the participatory process from very early on. Such early convergence is likely to promote a better balance between prevention and enforcement measures in addressing corruption. Until recently, the pendulum was firmly in the "enforcement" corner. The gradual swing towards middle ground has taken place due to recognition of the limitations of ex post legalistic enforcement measures, since rule of law institutions themselves are currently part of the corruption problem in India.Keywords

Electronic waste is expected to rise up to 300% by the year 2020. Developing country like India, produces around 11,000-15,000 tone of E-waste annually. E–waste not only causes serious health hazards but also deleterious long lasting environmental effects due to xenobiotic and heavy metal integrated in it. E-waste also has various economically useful metals like copper, aluminium, steel, gold, silver, and platinum. Lack of technology to harness these beneficial metals lead to the export of E-waste from developing countries to Singapore, Belgium and Japan for its processing, which indicates beyond doubt that the major economic driver for recycling of electronic waste is from the recovery of precious metals. The void in judicial management and latest development in metal recovery from E-waste has been bridge by this review. The industrial and feasible processes involved in metal recovery are Pyrometallurgical methods, Hydrometallurgical methods (Acid leaching, Cyanide leaching, Thiourea leaching and Thiosulfate leaching), Biometallurgy Process, Bacterial leaching (Direct mechanism and Indirect mechanism by Thiosulphate Pathway and Polysulfide pathway) and Fungal leaching are elaborated in this review. In nutshell, we conclude that E-waste is inevitable evil. All research should lead to the practical solution for a problem hence, we have done critical analysis in pros and cons of existing E-waste management and propose two effective methods to manage E-waste, first is effective recycling (disassembly, upgrading and refining) and second is bioleaching using various microbes such as Acidithiobacillus sp.Keywords

Biomining operations are used industrially to extract metal of interest from low grade ores. The time required in these operations is relatively large as different microorganisms take different amount of time in bioleaching or bio oxidation. Extensive research is going in the field of metallurgy and biotechnology to create new strains, by genetic manipulation, which give better yield and take shorter time. This is resulting in a lot of dispersed data around the globe at various locations in the form of literature hard copies and web material. Hence, we try is to create a freely accessible, informative and cumulated data repository of mining bacteria, from which the data related to any kind of mining microorganism can be extracted and any new data related to existing or new strains can be uploaded so that a uniform informational repository is formed. Since, the bacterial groups are the most researched groups amongst the plethora of mining microorganisms, we first aimed at creating a database for the bacterial group, which can further be extended to other groups as well.Keywords
