There are different approaches of handover in multi carrier based broadband systems to provide QoS over mobile communication networks, in particularly for multicarrier systems like OFDM and MC-CDMA. This paper presents a handover technique referred to as semisoft handover which overcomes the drawbacks of previous handover techniques. Here, performance measurements are conducted to evaluate the proposed handover technique in terms of outage probability at the cell boundary by considering loading ratio and data rates.

The present study was conducted to find out whether the abiotic factors in Gulf of Mannarviz., Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Day light photoperiod would have an effect on the Gonado somatic index of the dominant sea urchin species Salmacis virgulata. A sampling survey for 20 months was conducted from October-2013 to May-2015 in Vedalai landing centre, along the Gulf of Mannar. The freshly collected sea urchin were brought to Mandapam CMFRI and their Gonado Somatic Index (GSI) was estimated. The remote sensing data of the SST from Gulf of Mannar sourced from ICOADS and the daylight photoperiod were compared with the GSI data for 20 months in order to assess the synchrony among the three parameters. The pearson correlation coefficient of the association among the GSI, SST and Photoperiod revealed that there was no significant correlation (p>0.001). The result of the present study revealed that the Gonado Somatic Index of S. virgulata is independent of abiotic factors, which is in contrast to the temperate sea urchin species, where SST and Photoperiod play a major role in gonadal development.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of biofloc on the growth and survival of ornamental cichlid, Blue morph. Methods/Statistical analysis: Thousand number of Blue morph were stocked in circular cement tanks of 14000 l capacity in control and biofloc rearing tanks. Various water quality parameters, qualitative and quantitative parameters of biofloc and growth parameters were estimated periodically. The results were statistically analysed using ANOVA. Results/Findings: All the water quality parameters were high in Control tank compared to biofloc. Floc volume was higher in biofloc tank (4.4 mg/l). The number of microorganisms present in biofloc was much higher than Control. The survival rate of Blue morph young ones in biofloc treatment was 93% and it was 90.2%in control. All growth parameters expect length, weight gain and mean length were significantly significant (P<0.01) among the days of culture as well as between control and biofloc treatment tanks. Conclusion: Biofloc increased the growth and survival of Blue morph significantly. Keywords
