The Solid State Circuit Breakers (SSCBs) which are developed using modern high power semiconductors can replace the conventional mechanical circuit breakers. With the development of power semiconductor technology, the power handling capabilities and switching speed of the power devices have improved tremendously. The Solid State Circuit Breaker uses high power anti parallel switches to carry bidirectional current. During normal operation the solid state circuit breaker is “on”. During faults, the gate of the SSCB is pulse modulated to prevent the circuit current from exceeding a predetermined limit. The load voltage and current is sensed and it is used to turn on and turn off the SSCB. In this paper, a circuit topology for SSCB is developed and simulated using Matlab/Simulink. The hardware model is also developed. Hardware results show satisfactory performance for an SSCB. The SSCB offer many advantages like much faster interruption of over currents, based on over current thresholds; reduced energy flowing into the electrical systems during faults and reduced system ringing during fault interruptions. This paper deals with simulation and implementation of SSCB in multi bus system.Keywords

In this paper, a systematic review of bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) boost rectifier, also called dual boost PFC rectifier, is presented. Open loop and closed loop PFC converter fed DC drives are modeled. Simulation of Closed Loop Controlled bridgeless converter fed DC motor drive is presented and various performance characteristics are provided. This drive has advantages like reduced losses and improved power factor. The simulation results reveal a quantitative insight of the power losses in different topologies and also verify that this simulation approach is faster and more cost-effective than numerical calculation or experimental measurement approach.Keywords

This work deals with power quality improvement by using TCTC & STATCOM. When the reactive power of the load is changing continuously, a suitable fast response compensator is needed. STATCOM (Static Compensator) and TCTC (Thyristor controlled tap changer) are two such compensators belonging to FACTS devices. They are used in this work. Models for the STATCOM &TCTC (Thyristor tap changer) are developed using MATLAB simulink. Smooth reactive power control is achieved by varying the firing angle of TCTC system. The aim of this work is to model and simulate thirty bus system using simulink. The simulation results of thirty bus system with STATCOM & TCTC are presented.Keywords

This paper deals with modeling and simulation of Solid State Circuit Breaker using MATLAB Simulink. The Solid State Circuit Breaker is developed using four power diodes and one Silicon Controlled Rectifier. The voltage across the load is sampled and is rectified to obtain the control signal. The closed loop system detects the fault and the Solid State Circuit Breaker is opened by inhibiting the pulses. The results of sustained fault condition and the closed loop condition are presented. The Solid State Circuit Breaker has advantages like arc free interruption and reduced hardware. The aim of this paper is to model and simulate the Solid State Circuit Breaker.Keywords

This paper deals with theoretical analysis of EMI filter along with the simulation and implementation of closed loop controlled double boost converter. This circuit has advantages like reduced hardware, improved power factor and higher output voltage. The EMI filter at the input is capable of reducing the noise in the source voltage. Double Boost Converter feeding resistive load is analyzed and simulated. The aim of this work is to develop a simulation model for closed loop controlled lossless double boost converter and the hardware is tested. The experimental results are compared with the simulation results.Keywords
