This study aim to analyze the role of leading co-operative societies and their services with respect to supply of agricultural inputs, finance, marketing of produce etc. by the sapota growers of Navsari district of Gujarat state. Out of ten co-operatives working in sapota crops only four were selected for study based on their performance in procuring and marketing of sapota fruits during last three years. Respondents viz, members of the selected co-operative societies 120 farmers were selected proportionately. Thus the total sample for the study comprised of 120 farmers. The results on services of agricultural inputs indicate that majority of the respondents satisfied with timely, adequate and qualitative supply of fertilizers, insecticides / pesticides and agricultural implements, respectively. The opinion regarding price of inputs indicate that 54.17, 62.50 and 63.33 per cent respondents agree with that the price was reasonable for fertilizers, insecticides/pesticides and agricultural implements, respectively. More than three fourth of respondents believe that the price for their produce paid by co-operative was reasonable. It is also seen that requirement of finance from the members was partially fulfilled by co-operative societies. Keywords

A study was carried out to examine the changes in soil chemical properties and crop yields in a area of Asma village of Valsad district (Gujarat). The result showed that the mean values of soil pH and EC were increased with time. Although, average values of organic carbon, available P and available K were decreased year by year. Also difference between maximum and minimum values of soil pH, EC, organic carbon, available P and available K become larger with time due to greatly different in fertilizer application between farmers. Though the yields of crops were increased with cultivation of hybrid varieties but the changes in soil nutrient status have shown there might be need to improve soil management with application of organic and biofertilisers to sustain the fertility of the soil. Keywords

A study was undertaken to assess the socio economic status of tribal farm women as influenced by village milk cooperatives in Valsad district of Gujarat state. Women administered primary village milk cooperatives are nucleus for multifarious activities related from milk production to its marketing and thereby very much concerned for socioeconomic development of tribal farm women in the district. The members of village milk cooperative societies with high education, large family size, higher land holding, large herd size, higher annual income, more social participation, high risk orientation and more extension contact led to higher socioeconomic status in the village society. Keywords

The study was conducted in Valsad district of Gujarat state with 200 respondents (100 trained and equal number of untrained farmers). The finding reports that the knowledge score was significantly higher for trained farmers as compared to untrained farmers. There was a significant difference between trained and untrained farmers in respect of adoption level of tribal dairy farmers for green fodder production technologies. Thus, it can be concluded that training has played important role in increasing knowledge and rate of adoption of green fodder production technologies. Keywords

The present investigation attempts to study the socio-economic impact of rural entrepreneurship training on SHG members. Out of the total 22 SHGs formed by the krishi vigyan kendra, valsad, 8 SHGs of tribal women operating in four villages viz., Sukhala, Ambheti, Arnala, and Samarpada were selected from two blocks i.e. Kaparada and Pardi. Out of the total 448 members, 172 members of eight selected groups, were selected as respondents. It can be concluded that all the above rural entrepreneurship training programmes organized by K.V.K. had above moderate effectiveness in terms of economical gain but the training exerted very good impact on social development of women members. It was also felt that almost 59 per cent of the trainees were active and utilizing their skills. Income of all the group members was increased after entrepreneurship training to the tune of Rs.400-2500 per month. This shows effectiveness of skill oriented vocational training imparted by the Kendra. Keywords
