This paper focuses on the relationship between leadership and organizational commitment in the Indian context. It traces the research on leadership and commitment and arrives at a conceptual framework establishing the linkages between the relevant variables. Data was collected through questionnaires to measure leadership styles and organizational commitment. A total of 239 responses was gathered from employees working in banking, higher education, Information Technology and manufacturing sectors. The research finds a positive linkage between leadership style and organizational commitment. One important finding of the study has been that, in the Indian context, contingent reward is perceived more transformational than transactional factor. Organizations will not reap benefits from diversity management till there is a supportive environment which is inclusive in orientation towards the minority workforce. The present study was carried out in three organizations in India. The independent variable was a supportive work environment. The dependent variable was performance management score of diverse categories of employees. The term minority workforce refers to women employees, employees belonging to religions other than Hinduism and those preferring not to disclose their sexual orientation. A comparison between those having care taking responsibilities at home and those having no such responsibilities back home was undertaken. The results showed that supportive work environment led to high performance scores.- Influence of Thriving on Innovative Behavior at Workplace

The purpose of the present study is to advance the literature on thriving by examining its influence on innovation in organizations. The study posits positive linkage between employee thriving and innovative behavior at workplace. The authors adopted the survey method to test the hypotheses. Data was collected from a sample of 223 employees working in service sector. As hypothesized, results suggest that the experience of thriving at work leads to employees engaging in innovative work behavior. The results also suggest that amongst the two dimensions of thriving i.e. learning and vitality, learning opportunities is a better predictor of innovative work behavior.References

Thepaper focuses on two issues of career women. First, the challenges of the second career which is often filled with uncertainty and stagnation. Second the perception that leadership style is based on gender. The paper is based on two short studies each addressing one of the problems mentioned above. In the first study, the perceived organization support is the independent variable and organization commitment is the dependent variable. Results show that women who opted for the second career and got the support of the organization also showed organization commitment. In the second study, leadership style was the independent variable and commitment was the dependent variable. The results showed that gender did not influence leadership style pointing at the androgynous leadership style of women.References

The study analyzes the effect of patriarchal values on work-life balance efforts of urban working women. It seeks to find out if the work-life balance efforts of the urban working women led to wellbeing. It is a qualitative study carried out in triads consisting of the respondent (woman), her spouse or a significant family member and an office colleague. NVIVO and DICTION were used for analysis. The study showed that Indian women upheld patriarchal values. To manage their occupations women showed their preference for a joint family over the nuclear family. Women handled work-life balance but the effort led to stress. Work gave them respect as an earning family member. Their motivation to continue to work gave them different coping methods.
