Abstract

Indole derivatives (Isatin) are potential synthons, for building synthetically a variety of chemical systems known for their broader biological and pharmacological applications. In the present investigation, title compounds (V1-V5) were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 3-[(2)-(phenyl methylidene) hydrazono]-1, 3-dihydro-2H-benzo[g]indol-2-one (IV) with different aryl aldehydes, as such reactions are not reported so far. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, ¹H NMR and MASS spectroscopy. They were screened for their antimicrobial potential against bacterial strains i.e., Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris and fungal strains i.e., Candida albicans and Yeast. Compound V5 (Nitro) was more potent anti- microbial agent against both bacteria [Gram (+Ve) and Gram (-Ve) organisms] followed by compound V₄ (Chloro) and V₂ (4-Methoxy).

Abstract

A simple, sensitive, precise, accurate, rapid and reproducible reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic procedure is developed for simultaneous determination of Rabeprazole sodium and Itopride hydrochloride in Capsule dosage form. The mobile phase used was a combination of methanol: buffer (65:35 v/v) and the pH was found to be 4.30. The detection of the capsule dosage form was carried out at 285 nm and the flow rate employed was 1 mL/min. Linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 2.5 to 15 μg/mL of Rabeprazole sodium and 20 to 120 μg/mL of itopride hydrochloride with a correlation coefficient of 0.998 and 0.996 respectively. The results of the analysis were validated statistically and recovery studies confirmed the accuracy of the proposed method.

Abstract

In this study reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method have been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of Ambroxol and Levocetirizine in combined pharmaceutical formulation. HPLC separation was achieved with a Phenomenex-Luna, C₁₈ (250x4.6 mm, 5μ) as stationary phase and Sodium Dihydrogen phosphate buffer (pH adjusted to 3 with Ortho phosphoric acid): Methanol (30:70,v/v) as mobile phase , at a flow rate of 1ml/min, UV detection was performed at 230nm. The retention time of Ambroxol and Levocetirizine was found to be 4.2 and 5.6 min respectively. The developed method was validated in terms of accuracy, precision, linearity, limit of detection, limit of quantitation and stability studies. The results of the studies showed that the proposed RP-HPLC method is simple, rapid, precise and accurate, which can be used for the routine determination of Ambroxol and Levocetirizine in Bulk and in its Pharmaceutical dosage form.

Abstract

A Simple and reproducible method for simultaneous estimation of Diethylcarbamazine citrate (DECC) and Cetirizine hydrochloride (CTH) by High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in formulation was developed. The analysis was performed with a mobile phase containing Acetonitrile and mixed phosphate buffer (KH₂PO₄ and KH₂PO₄, adjusted to pH - 3.0 with 10% orthophosphoric acid) in the ratio of 60:40(%v/v) at a flow rate of 1ml/min. A phenomenex C₁₈ column (250 × 4.6mm,5μm)was used. The wavelength of DECC is 216nm and Cetirizine is 230nm and from the overlapping spectra a wavelength of 220nm is selected and simultaneous estimation is carried out .The analysis was performed in the linearity range of 24-144 μg/ml for Diethylcarbamazine citrate and 0.8 - 4.8 μg/ml for Cetirizine hydrochloride and the minimum detectable level was 0.62 μg/ml and 0.105 μg/ml.The correlation coefficient was 0.998 and 0.997.Thus the developed and validated chromatographic method for Diethylcarbamazine citrate and Cetirizine hydrochloride is said to be rapid, simple, accurate and cost effective that can be applied for routine analysis in research institution, quality control department in industries and in clinical pharmacokinetic studies.

Abstract

The study was aimed at evaluating the antitumor and antioxidant activities of ethanol extract of Pseudarthria viscida (Family: Fabaceae) against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC)-bearing Swiss albino mice. The ethanol extract of Pseudarthria viscida (EEPV) was administered at the doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg in mice for 14 days after 24 h of tumor inoculation. The effect of EEPV on the growth of transplantable murine tumor, life span of EAC bearing mice, hematological profile and liver biochemical parameters were estimated. Treatment with EEPV decreased the tumor volume and viable cell count thereby increasing the life span of EAC bearing mice and brought back the hematological parameter more or less normal level. The effect of EEPV decreases the level of lipid peroxidation and protein content and significantly increased the level of antioxidant enzymes such as Catalase (CAT), Glutathione (GSH) and Superoxide dismutase (SOD). These observations are suggestive of the protective effect of EEPV against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC).

Abstract

A rapid and accurate high performance reverse phase liquid chromatography has been developed for the quantitative determination of glycyrrhizic acid in crude drug and its herbal formulation. The developed method was validated in terms of s linearity, precision, accuracy, specificity, robustness, limit of detection and limit of quantitation according to International Conference on Harmonization guidelines and the statistical results obtained were within the acceptance criteria. Chromatography was carried out on BDS C-18 column (4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm) using isocratic mobile phase consisting of phosphate buffer and acetonitrile in the ratio of 45:55 (v/v) at a flow rate of 1 mL/min and eluents are monitored at 256 nm. The retention time of glycyrrhizic acid was found to be 2.26 minutes. The linear regression analysis data for the calibration plot showed a good linear relationship with correlation coefficient of 0.999 in the concentration range of 20 to 120 μg/mL for glycyrrhizic acid with respect to peak area. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation values were found to be 0.704 μg/ml and 2.348 μg/ml respectively. The % recovery value for glycyrrhizic acid is 99.67% confirms that the method is accurate. Due to its simplicity, rapidness and high precision, the proposed HPLC method may be used for the reliable quantitative determination of glycyrrhizic acid in both crude drug and herbal formulation.
