Renewable energy resources (RES) are being increasingly connected in is distribution systems utilizing power electronic converters. This paper presents a novel control strategy for achieving maximum benefits from these grid-interfacing inverters when installed in 3-phase 4-wire distribution systems. The inverter is controlled to perform as a multi-function device by incorporating active power filter functionality. The inverter can thus be utilized as:1) power converter to inject power generated from RES to the grid, and 2) shunt Active Power Filter to compensate current unbalance, load current harmonics, load reactive power demand and load neutral current. All of these functions may be accomplished either individually or simultaneously. With such a control, the combination of grid-interfacing inverter and the 3-phase 4-wire linear/non-linear unbalanced load at point of common coupling appears as balanced linear load to the grid. This new control concept is demonstrated with extensive MATLAB/Simulink simulation studies. Keywords

This project aims for a comprehensive security system that provides active protection against highly flammable gases used in thermal power plants using the combination of wireless transceiver Zigbee and mobile communications network infrastructure GSM(Global System for Mobile communications)[1]. The gas sensors that are able to detect the concentration of hydrogen in the surrounding atmosphere will continuously update the microcontroller with the measured parameters. Zigbee which can manage various data traffic patterns transmits these signals to Personal Computer. GSM is one of the latest mobile technology using MODEM which alerts the users immediately.
This paper also adds on implementation of an intelligent sensor interface embedded system, compliant with the new IEEE 1451 family of standards for smart networked transducers, integrating onchip the mixed-signal processing chain plus data fusion and communication digital resources. As application case study, a gas leak detection system for H2-based vehicles is presented.
The use of a microcontroller that is easily programmable to respond to inputs from sensors and produce outputs to actuators makes the system able to control and monitor almost any process. The microcontroller and GSM module coupled sensors and actuators are especially useful when dealing with hydrogen safety, as hydrogen, like any other highly flammable material, requires stringent safety measures.
