This paper details the investigation of wear characteristics of gray cast iron under dry, SAE15W40 and SAE20W40 oil lubricated sliding conditions. The effects of applied load, sliding speed and sliding distance on the specific wear rate of gray cast iron were studied using pin-on-disc wear testing machine. The experimental data were analyzed by using the robust technique of Taguchi’s orthogonal arrays. The specific wear rate was analyzed using signal to noise ratio and analysis of variance. Keywords

The demand for micro-products and components has been rapidly increasing in electronics, optics, medicine, biotechnology, automotive, communications and avionics industries. Introduction of micro electronics and related technologies brought quantum change in products and applications. The miniaturized products demand innovative manufacturing methods. Micro-EDM is one of the most powerful technologies which are capable of fabricating micro-structure. In this work, EN-24 die steel as workpiece, Cu and CuW as electrodes of 250 μm diameter are used to drill blind holes of 500 μm depth. The comparative analysis of circularity of holes machined by micro-EDM and Heat affected zone are presented. Keywords

In this paper, an attempt has been made to predict and minimize the delamination in drilling of Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) reinforced epoxy carbon fiber composite laminates with Solid Carbide tool. The experiments were conducted using L9 orthogonal array with feed and cutting speed as process parameters. From the analysis of variance, the optimal combination level and the significant parameters on delamination factor are obtained. The optimization results showed that the combination of low feed rate with high cutting speed is necessary to minimize delamination in drilling of CNT reinforced epoxy carbon fiber composite laminates. The second order models for predicting delamination factor both at entry and exit of the holes have been developed using response surface methodology. Keywords
