Abstract

Calcium nitrate and ammonium nitrate solutions in methanol, ethanol and isopropanol have been studied ultrasonically using a variable path ultrasonic interfometer working at 2 MHz. The apparent molar compressibility, isentropic compressibility, intermolecular free length, specific acoustic impendence, molar sound velocity and solvation number have been evaluated and discussed. Bachem's relation is found to be obeyed. Constants A and B of this relation in various alcohols have also been determined.

Abstract

Triethyl amineas well as methanol and ethanol are important aliphatic organic amino compound, which draw their importance as excellent solvents. The densities (ρ) and ultrasonic velocities (u) of binary mixtures of triethyl amine with methanol and ethanol have been determined experimentally at 298.15K, 303.15K and 308.15K respectively. Isentropic compressibility, intermolecular free length, molar volume, available volume and free volume have been computed utilizing these experimental data. The nonlinear variation of these parameters shows the presence of interaction and their excess values is indicative of interaction between the components molecules in both systems.

Abstract

The ultrasonic velocities and densities of binary mixtures ofo-cresol, m-cresol and p-cresol with inert cyclohexane, have been determined experimentally at 303.15 K, 308.15K and 313.15K over entire range of composition using variable path ultrasonic interferometer and double wall pyknometer. These experimental data have been utilized to compute isentropic compressibility, intermolecular free length, molar volume, available volume and free folume as well as their excess values. The excess values, of these parameters have been evaluated and a comparative study of variation in molecular interaction of these isomers with cyclohexane has been explained on the basis of their non-linear variation with concentration and temperature. The interaction in these systems have been explained in terms of the formation of weak hydrogen bond O...H-0 and absence of any strong specific interaction.

Abstract

The inter molecular free length, molar volume, available volume, free volume, molar sound velocity and degree of molecular interaction of N, N-dimethyl aniline+methylene chloride and N,N-dimethyl aniline+chloroform at 303.15K, 308.15K and 313.15K have been computed from ultrasonic velocity and density data and the results have been explained in terms of molecular interaction.
