Abstract

The paper mainly aims at optimizing, restoring and reconfiguring the faulty area in a distribution network by locating and isolating the faulty block. Restoration involves changing the switch status to maximize the supply to loads that are left unsupplied after fault removal, after that system optimization is done using reconfiguration. In the proposed system restoration and reconfiguration process is achieved in 16 bus system and simultaneously load flow analysis is performed before and after the fault and the same is verified in MATLAB. Optimization using BPSO is done in order to get the most stable configuration for restoration process by minimizing the LBI (load balancing index). FPGA is used to generate the pulses in order to control the switch status and finally the results are verified and compared with the FPGA hardware kit.

Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to implement (Society of Automotive electronics) SAE J1939 protocol standard which is a CAN based communication, for one of control units in the vehicle called Instrument Cluster, which acts as a gateway between driver and vehicle ECUs. In networking ECUs in heavy duty vehicles, it is J1939 protocol plays a key role. J1939 addresses inter ECU communication and Diagnostics of individual ECUs. This paper addresses Diagnostics part of the protocol layer along with other low level layers like Transport and Network. Part of the data link layer by default is taken care by CAN protocol alone and rest as specified in J1939 standard. SAE International has more than 121,000 members - engineers, business executives, educators, and students from more than 97 countries - who share information and exchange ideas for advancing the engineering of mobility systems. Our paper mainly concerned with design preparation, programming the microcontroller, interfacing the microcontroller and the hardware, final integration and testing of the complete system.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a Two-tier Overlay Multicast Architecture (TOMA) to provide scalable and efficient multicast support for various group communication applications. In TOMA, Multicast Service Overlay Network (MSON) is advocated as the backbone service domain, while end users in access domains form a number of small clusters, in which an application-layer multicast protocol is used for the communication between the clustered end users. TOMA is able to provide efficient resource utilization with less control overhead, especially for large-scale applications. It also alleviates the state scalability problem and simplifies multicast tree construction and maintenance when there are large numbers of groups in the network. To help MSON providers efficiently plan backbone service overlay, we suggest several provisioning algorithms to locate proxies, select overlay links, and allocate link bandwidth. Extensive simulation studies demonstrate the promising performance of TOMA.

Abstract

This paper discuss about the new approach of monitoring the electrical parameters for drives through power line carrier communication. Using this technique parameters like speed, voltage, current and power factors are monitored by using exceed power leads as a communication media. The communication media are located in two different places for sending and receiving the data’s which require existing 50 hertz power line. This circuit uses an asynchronous serial communication protocol and frequency shift keying modulation for realizing frequency multiplexing in the power line. These monitoring systems used for an inverter-fed induction machine are constructed using this power line communication link. A prototype model was demonstrated within the limited distance.

Abstract

The explosive growth in the number of mobile devices such as Internet-enabled cellular phones, wireless handheld devices, wireless laptops, and tablet PCs has driven the corresponding growth in applications for mobile computing. These applications usually belong to one of two classes: collaborative applications and individual application. While collaborative applications require several mobile devices to work together and include peer-to-peer computing and grid computing, individual applications are local to the mobile device and its user. In this paper, we present a framework that allows mobile devices to collaboratively work on a computationally-expensive problem. Such a problem is decomposed into smaller tasks and distributed across other mobile devices willing to share their computational power with others. This framework is based on the paradigm of grid computing applied to the domain of wireless mobile devices. This paper presents our current implementation of the framework architecture and simulation of its functionality. Also, we focus on the issues of mobility, QoS and network stability and their effect on the performance of our collaborative problem-solving framework.

Abstract

A "graph" refers to a collection of vertices or nodes and a collection of edges that connect pairs of vertices. A graph may be undirected, meaning that there is no distinction between the two vertices associated with each edge, or its edges may be directed from one vertex to another. Spanning Tree is a tree that connects all vertices in the graph. In a single graph, we can have many number of spanning tree. A minimum spanning tree (MST) is then a spanning tree with edge cost less than or equal to the cost of every other spanning tree. Several algorithms have been proposed to find minimum spanning tree. Considering the entire graph to construct MST is a difficult task since the number of nodes increases then the complexity also increases and is vice versa. So here we apply divide and conquer approach to split the nodes into several groups (clusters) and then MST is performed to each cluster and finally clusters are connected. Several clustering algorithms are used for distance based clustering here we prefer to take hierarchical clustering algorithm to find minimum spanning tree. Present work the authors conclude that performance of hierarchical clustering is better than that of other techniques. The experimental results of the performance outcome of the hierarchical are so better that the K mean clustering technique.

Abstract

Improper tire pressure is a safety issue that is often overlooked or ignored. A drop in tire pressure by just a few pounds per square inch (PSI) can result in the reduction of gas mileage, tire life, safety, and vehicle performance. To address this problem, an automated system that will alleviate the need for actively monitoring tire pressure was designed. This report documents the design process for an onboard tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) consisting of transmitter in each tire and a central receiver. The Pressure data is transferred to the central receiver through wireless transmission. The system takes periodic tire pressure readings and warns the driver at abnormal pressure readings. TPMS comes with several pre-defined tire pressure settings and allows the user to enter their own pressure setting if needed. Pressure settings, current pressures and flat/leak notifications are all displayed on a liquid crystal display (LCD) located in the dash. This system will take the maintenance out of upholding tire pressure and increase tire life, fuel efficiency and vehicle safety and performance. The system development process constitutes of defining the product requirements, Transmitter sensor selection, PCB design, circuit verification, and software development, testing and integrated testing.

Abstract

The Indian Giant squirrel syn. Malabar giant squirrel (Ratufa indica) is an uppercanopy dwelling mammal, endemic to southwestern, central and eastern peninsular India, found specifically in the Western Ghats, Satpuras and Eastern Ghats. It is seen at elevations of 180- 2300 m and is widely distributed. The species has been classified under the Class, Mammalia; Order, Rodentia; Suborder, Sciuromorpha; family, Sciuridae; subfamily, Ratufinae; Genus, Ratufa and species Ratufa indica.

Abstract

The AC voltage controller plays a vital role in many of the industries. In this paper the multiple pulse width modulated AC voltage controllers is designed for analyzing the different loads. The performance of AC voltage controller is analyzed with and without filter. The performance parameters are output voltage and total harmonic distortion. The performance analysis is done for pulse width modulated AC voltage controller with resistive load and combination of resistive and inductive load. The design of passive filter components is obtained using particle swarm bacterial foraging optimization technique. The effect of filter requirements is analyzed using the Matlab software.
