The objective of the current study is to investigate and evaluate the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams when using GFRP bars as internal reinforcement. The experimental program includes testing of five concrete beams in simply supported condition with steel and GFRP bars as internal reinforcements. The experimental results were evaluated and discussed. Also the ultimate flexural capacities were calculated by theoretical calculations. A comparison made between both experimental and theoretical results. This comparison indicated that the theoretical analysis gives results which are about an average of 51.85% lower than the experimental flexural capacity for GFRPreinforced beams. The mid span average deflection of GFRP beams at 55 kN mid-point load was 4.2 times that of steel beam for same load and this can be attributed to the low modulus of elasticity of GFRP bars. Keywords
