Herbal medicines have played a vital role in the therapeutics when safe and efficient therapy is required. Herbs had been used by all cultures throughout history but India has one of the oldest, richest and most diverse cultural living traditions associated with the use of medicinal plants. Presently the need for herbal drugs is growing because of the fact that these are biosafe with no side effects. Many analysis-based studies regarding pharmacological research in India, have been conducted in the past. Pharmaceutical research across the world shows that, natural products are potential sources of novel molecules for drug development.
Diabetes is the world's largest endocrine disease involving metabolic disorder of carbohydrate, fat and protein. According to the WHO projections, the prevalence of diabetes is likely to increase by 35%. Statistical projections about India suggest that the number of diabetics will rise from 15 million in 1995 to 57 million in the year of 2025 making it the country with the highest number of diabetics in the world. In this work a polyherbal formulation was developed and compared with that of a marketed formulation.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder and associated with many other metabolic functional alterations. The bark of Ficus bengalensis and other plants are reported as antidiabeticand hypolipidemic due to presence of flavonoids and sterols. Based on literature survey, tribal information and chemical constituents, the present study is undertaken to observe the hypolipidemic potential of leaves and fruits of Ficus bengalensis because they also contain the same active constituents. Hence, the leaves and fruits may have same activity like bark. To study the object, different doses of ethanolic extract of leaves and fruits of Ficus bengalensis was given to alloxan induced diabetic rats. Keywords

A new and simple reverse phase HPLC method was developed for the determination of amlodipine in its pharmaceutical dosage form. The mobile phase used acetonitrile, methanol, KH2PO4 was in the ratio of 250: 250: 500. Buffer solution was prepared by dissolving 0.05 m KH2PO4+0.1% H3PO4 adjunct with triethylamine. The separation was achieved on hypersil C-18 column, phenomenex Gemini (250×4.6 mm) and 5 μ particle size with rheodyne injector. The flow rate was 1ml/min and UV detection at 238 nm. The retention time for amlodipine was 9 min. The linearity coefficient of Amlodipine was 0.99% and the percentage recoveries for amlopdipine was 100.02% respectively. The proposed method was accurate, precise and linear within the desired range. This method can be successfully employed for the quantitative analysis of amlodipine. Keywords
