It has long been recognized that conditions during cutting, such as feed rate, cutting speed and depth of cut, should be selected to optimize the economics of machining operations as assessed by productivity, total manufacturing cost per component or some other suitable criterion. These quality features are highly correlated and are expected to be influenced directly or indirectly by the direct effect of process parameters or their interactive effects create multiobjective problems. To predict this problem we take the sixteen combinations of milling machining operation from DOE. In view of the fact, that traditional Taguchi method cannot solve a multi-objective optimization problem; to overcome this limitation grey relational theory has been coupled with Taguchi method. This problem can be solved by extended Taguchi’s method to convert multi objective problem into single objective problem. The developed models for different constraints have been used for the construction of an optimization programmed which can be used to obtain optimum cutting speeds, feed rates, axial depth of cut and radial depth of cut under different constraints.Keywords

Implementation failure in six sigma concept in supply chain management has been increasing as a concern. The reason for many Six Sigma programmes to fail is due to an implementation model which is not at all user friendly. Using a successful Six Sigma, we have to perform strategic analysis driven by the market and the customer. It is necessary to establish a high-level, cross-functional team to drive the improvement initiative and to identify overall improvement tools. We can perform high-level process mapping and prioritize improvement opportunities and develop a detailed plan for low-level improvement teams, and then to implement, document, and revise as necessary. This is important for both practitioners and academicians for achieving success at the industry level.Keywords

This paper describes the vibration analysis of a cracked cantilever aluminium beam and analyzes the relation between the modal natural frequencies with crack depth, modal natural frequency with crack location. Also the relation among the crack depth, crack location and natural frequency has been analyzed. Double cracks at different depth and at different location are evaluated. And the analysis reveals a relationship between crack depth and modal natural frequency. As we know when a structure suffers from damage its dynamic property can change and it was observed that crack caused a stiffness reduction with an inherent reduction in modal natural frequencies. Consequently it leads to the change in the dynamic response of the beam. The analysis was performed using CATIA software. Modal natural frequency was found to be increasing with increase in crack depth.Keywords

The best indicator of the measure of the health of the banking industry in a country is its volume of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). The increasing number of NPAs in commercial banks is a major concern in India. The best solution to reduce the volume of NPAs depends on good management of recovery mechanisms. The present context of research focuses on the recovery mechanism of NPAs with three important legal measures. Most of the cases are being negotiated and monitored through Lok Adalats in order to reduce the burden of those assets which cease to generate revenue. In addition to this, there is Debt Recovery Tribunals mechanism (DRTs), which focuses on diminishing the balance of NPAs. However, the third measure includes Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Securities Interest Act (SARFAESI Act), which allows banks to curb NPAs. The entire study is based on secondary data and SPSS is used to analyze the data. The study revealed that there is a statistically significant difference between the number of cases referred to the recovery mechanisms and the amount recovered through various recovery channels.Keywords

The present study analyses existing studies on various issues of Indian commercial banks related to non-performing assets (NPA). The problem of NPA is not only precarious in India, but also across the globe. In other words, NPA is like a large red balloon, a red signal for the banking system in India. The reason for the investigation is to analyse the accessible literature, to place in a nutshell the various points of view of NPAs. The article divides the existing literature into different sections, for a detailed analysis of the identification, growth and composition, determinants, financial ratios, recovery channels, financial sustainability, and other aspects of NPA management of commercial banks. The papers which have been chosen for the literature reviews are based on a systematic literature review. The research papers and articles have been selected by searching keywords in the abstracts and concluding remarks of the whole database. The systematic review process conveys and assists in the selection of appropriate articles for the study. The scope of this research will be helpful to bankers in finding new directions to analyse the management of NPAs, and academicians and researchers in conducting exploratory research. The study presents the research gaps that occur in the management of NPAs, to explain research that can bring an insight into the literature. A wide-ranging review of NPA will not only help identify the issues, but also establish effective management of NPAs.Keywords
