Free radicals are fairly unstable and highly reactive substances, causing oxidation and sometimes irreversible damage to cells. This has led to an increase in intake of antioxidants. Medicinal plants are being studied extensively for their antioxidant properties. The present study was aimed to study the in-vitro antioxidant activity of aqueous and methanolic extracts of Premna integrifolia Linn ischolar_mains (Verbenaceae). Both the extracts were subjected to various in-vitro antioxidant activity screening models such as DPPH, DMSO, ABTS, Nitric oxide and Iron chelation assay. Ascorbic acid was used as the standard. In all the models studied, the aqueous extract showed IC50 values of 111.009, 101.369, 99.976, 109.827, 105.239 μg/ml and the methanolic extract showed IC50 values of 98.252, 96.559, 88.163, 100.631, 95.005μg/ml for DPPH, DMSO, ABTS, Nitric oxide and Iron chelation assay, respectively.Keywords

Quality of the oil in oilseed crop is affected by mineral deficiency Zinc is the most dominant micronutrient deficient in Indian soils. The deficiency of zinc in soils means that the crop grown generally has lower level of available zinc and so leads to lower level of zinc in food chain. Zinc (Zn) activates NADPH dependent dehydrogenase for fat synthesis, reduction of nitrates to ammonia prior to amino acids and protein synthesis. Low Zn level in soils may adversely affect chlorophyll synthesis and photosynthesis resulting in poor crop yield.- Does the Introduction of Stock Index Futures Reduce the Stock Market Volatility

Traditional econometric models assume a constant one period forecast variance. However, many financial time series display volatility clustering, that is, autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (ARCH). The aim of this paper is to estimate conditional volatility models in an effort to capture the salient features of stock market volatility in India and evaluate the models in terms of out-of sample forecast accuracy. The paper also investigates whether there is any change in volatility after the introduction of futures. The estimation of volatility is made at the macro level on a major market index, namely, S&P CNX Nifty. In addition, 50 individual companies' share prices currently included in S&P CNX Nifty are used to examine the heteroscedastic behaviour of the Indian stock market at the micro level. The volatility is estimated by fitting different models to the market indices by dividing the study duration into two different time period's, one pre-future and another post-futures -:
• Historical moving average model
• Standard Generalized autoregressive conditional heterosedasticity GARCH (1, 1) model.
The paper found:
• A strong evidence of time-varying volatility.
• A tendency of the periods of high and low volatility to cluster
• A high persistence and predictability of volatility.

Dandruff is often seen in the primary care setting as well as in the dermatology field. In this article, we review the mostly used drugs for treating dandruff and compare their efficacy in eradicating the symptoms of dryness and flaking of the scalp, along with providing relief of associated pruritus. Examples of such agents include keratolytics, regulators of keratinization, antimicrobials, and naturopathic therapies. We examine their mechanisms of action and their efficacy in treating dandruff.Keywords

Preliminary phytochemical screening of leaves of Premna corymbosa Rottl demonstrated the presence of alkaloid, glycosides, flavanoids, steroids and triterpenoids. Antipyretic cativity of ethanolic extract of Premna corymbosa rottl. Leaves was tested by Brewer's yeast induced pyrexia method.decrease I temperature produced by ethanolic extract in a dose of 100, 200 mg/kg in male rat was measured and compared with reference standard paracetamol(25 mg/kg).

Wheat grass (Triticum aestivum) is a humble weed a power house of nutrient and vitamin supplements. Its main component is chlorophyll which is around 70 per cent. This can be consumed both in raw juice and powdered form. Considering its nutritional completeness and possible health implications of being blood builder, antioxidant, antiager, cell rejuvenator, cancer inhibitor, immune system supporter the study was undertaken to estimate nutritional composition and qualitative phytochemical analysis of wheat grass powder. About 100g wheat grass powder was obtained from 1 kg of fresh wheat grass. Nutrient composition of wheat grass powder (WGP) was found to be impressive with protein content 25g per cent, fibre 30g per cent. Values of mineral ash, carbohydrate, moisture and fat were recorded as 4.8g, 33.7g, 6.3g and 0.2g, respectively. Preliminary phytochemicals screening indicated the presence of Terpenoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and sterols. The chlorophyll estimation indicated wheat grass powder contains 525 mg of chlorophyll in100 g of T. aestivum powder . Thus, it can be concluded that plant based wheat grass is an ideal supplement for general health and well being with therapeutic uses. It has an immense potential in the main stream of food processing industries as a health benefactor which proves to be beneficial for the society in prevention from life threatening diseases.Keywords
