Abstract

Metal catalysed oxidation of Arginine by Potassium permangate in highly basic medium were studied spectrophotometrically over the range 20< t< 30° C, I= 0.5,2x10^-4 < oxidant 9x10^-4 mol/dm³, 1x10^-7 < catalyst< 5x10^-7 mol/dm³. The reaction is 1^st order with respect to the oxidant, substrate and catalyst. The activation parameters were calculated and tabulated.

Abstract

In this investigation the antibacterial activity of aqueous as well as alcoholic extracts of Allium cepa Linn were assayed with E. coli and Proteus vulgarius. These results suggest that Allium cepa is a potential spice for inhibiting the growth of bacterial. In this study the biochemical activity is also done.
