Partial hanging is generally associated with prominent eye and facial changes and less prominent ligature mark. We are reporting a case of partial hanging in a 26 years old male showing unusual findings. Although he was found hanged in sitting position, then also deceased body had prominent ligature marks and absence of facial and eye changes. Keywords

The present paper examines the quality of relationship between parents and infant and its long term effects on infant's hfe. Empirical studies suggest that there are some developmental issues regarding above relationship. Feeling of trust, secure attachment and emotion regulation help infants in acquiring abilities to understand and control the experiences of outer world. This may subsequently affect his/her psychological well-being in later life. Infants need to develop a balance between trust and mistrust in forming intimate relationships. The more sensitive responsive and consistent care is provided by the parents the better inner trust will be developed for forming a solid foundation for later crucial periods of life. Another important issue is development of a secure attachment with parents. In this context Bowlby,s attachment theory postulates that with the, availability of parents, repeated interaction, emotional supportiveness, warmth and positive attitude of them, a secure attachment is established. There are some factors like baby's temperament, mtergenerational transmission of attachment and emotional communication that may influence secure attachment.lnfant's attachment with parents has long term effects in later well-being. Attachment security has been found to be strongly related to children's close friendship, resiHence competency, communication skills, self confidence, self reliance in later years of life. Keywords

Breast cancer is one of life's most difficult and dispiriting event leading to physical suffering and psychological distress. For treating breast cancer, mostly the physical aspect of illness is concerned while ignoring the psychological and the spiritual component. While the cancer experience does not always leads to depression, it has been identified as a risk for depression (Raison & Miller, 2003). In the clinical setting of cancer, meaning in life may well have a central role in the life changes the illness experience brings about. Meaning in life can assist coping by offering a framework, perspective, and counterbalance to the challenge of illness. The present study aims at identifying the different dimensions of meaning in life i.e. harmony and peace; life perspective, purpose and goal; confusion and lessened meaning; and benefits of spirituality, as the predictors of depression among breast cancer patients. Sample for the study was the stage II and III 200 breast cancer patients with age range of 40-70 years. The Indian adaptation of Meaning in life scale (Warner & Williams, 1987) and Beck Depression Inventory- II (Beck et al, 1996) was used. The stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that life perspective, purpose and goal; and confusion and lessened meaning came out as significant predictors of depression among breast cancer patients. The study implies a need for designing an intervention program to enhance meaning in life so as to minimize depression among breast cancer patients. Keywords

Compaction, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and shear strength behaviour of coal mine overburden dump material and fly ash mixed overburden dump material are studied by conducting a series of tests as per the standards. Test results are compared and analyzed to observe the changes occurred due to addition of fly ash and also to check the suitability of the mixture for various geotechnical applications viz. for road construction near captive coal mines and also as a fill material in the voids of open cast coal mines by mixing it with the overburden dumps. This investigation reveals that fly ash should be mixed in the range of 12.5% to 15% by mass (approx. 18% to 22% by volume) in the OB dumps, so that they can be compacted over a wide range of moisture content with very little variation in its unit weight. The test result also reveals that cohesion of OB dump material increases and friction angle reduces with the increase in fly ash content. The stress-strain behaviour of the overburden dump material and fly ash mixed overburden dump material exhibited post-peak softening behaviour. Keywords

The generation of huge quantity of fly ash and its utilization or safe disposal is the main concern affecting the efficient and economical working of thermal power plants (TPP) in India. Government of India is making continuous efforts and making stringent regulations to promote fly ash utilization and has given targets to all TPPs to achieve 100% utilization level. Despite various initiatives by Government, the utilization of fly ash is still around 63% and remaining 37% fly ash is poorly disposed off into ash ponds. Presently, major consumers of fly ash are for making cement, bricks, concrete and roads. The utilization of fly ash in all these activities has reached to almost saturation level. A very limited quantity of fly ash is being utilized by mines for backfilling of mine voids. One of the potential area for bulk disposal of fly ash is mine void filling which can help in achieving 100% utilization target. This paper discusses geotechnical, environmental and various operational and legal issues pertaining to fly ash disposal in opencast mine voids. Various methods of fly ash disposal in mine voids with successful implementation on a large scale in Indian opencast mines are discussed with a view to achieve 100% utilization target set by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), Government of India. Keywords
