Detailed investigations have been carried out to study the effect of welding parameters on the charecteristics of hard metal deposited by self shielded flux-cored wire
The various characteristics of the deposited layer such as dilution, hardness, chemical composition etc. have been evaluted with respect to variation in the welding voltage current and speed.
It has been found that welding parameters have difinite influence on the above mentioned characteristics of the deposited layer of the hard metal as well as on the efficiency of the deposition.

Welding of Al-Zn-Mg alloy has been carried out by using AG conventional continuous current and pulsed current and pulsed current Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding processes. The influence of various welding parameters on the soundness of the weld was studied by estimation of flaws in it. The effect of flaw size present like a crack inside the weld on the tensile strength of the weld has been determined. The influence of flaw size on the fracture toughness of the weld deposit has also been studied. It has been observed that for small flaws the failure is net stress controlled, whereas for large flaws the failure has been found to be stress intensity controlled.- Influence of Welding Parameters on Bead Geometry in GMAW Vertical Down Position

The influence of welding parameters on the weld bead geometry in the vertical down position has been investigated with GMA welding process. Both solid and flux cored wires have been used for investigations. The results are compared with those obtained for similar investigations in the flat position welding.
Investigations have revealed that in vertical down position within a certain range of welding current, voltage and welding speed, the weld geometry is influenced in the same way as in the case of flat position. However, beyond these ranges of welding parameters the weld bead geometry is appreciably influenced by welding position. There is also an appreciable influence of flux cored wire, over solid wire, on weld geometry.
