Stress may be defined as "a state of psychological and / or physiological imbalance resulting from the disparity between situational demand and the individual's ability and / or motivation to meet those demands. There's a lot of pressure for the present generation students to learn more and more than in past generations. Just as it can be stressful to handle a heavy and challenging workload, some students can experience stress from regular academic work that isn't difficult enough. The present paper is an attempt to examine causes of academic stress among college students and its management. The first part of the paper deals with the conceptof what is academic stress; its causes and effect on college students while the second part deals with commonbarriers and academic stress management strategies.Keywords

The objective of the present study was to find the relationship between academic motivation and school performance among students. Three hundred subject varying along the types of family (Joint/Nuclear), school (Government/Private) and medium of instructions (Hindi/English) drown from Gorakhpur district. The age range of subjects was 15-22 years. Academic motivation measure developed by Paul R. Pintrich&Elisabeth V. De Gischolar_main (1990) and school performance measure developed by researcher (2010) were used. Results indicate that the medium of instruction was found significant on the two dimension of academic motivation scale namely academic belief&self regulated learning as well as school performance scale. Similarly, the interaction effects of the type of family and school were also found significant on the academic motivation and school performance. School performance was positively correlated with motivational belief and self regulated learning. Regression analysis revealed that the motivational beliefs and self-regulated learning emerged as the best predictor of school performance. The implication of the present study has been discussed.Keywords

How people feel and trunk about their lives is essential and integral part of understanding the well-being in a particular society. The present study is an attempt to investigate the well-being of male and female adolescents (N=240) attending government and public schools of Gorakhpur city. All the subjects belonged to the age group of 15 to 17 years. These participants were subjected to 35 items measure of well-being having seven domains. The results revealed that adolescents attending to public school scored higher as compare to government school on dimensions of well-being namely positive affect, family support and achievement expectation, while male adolescents showed higher emotional support, achievement expectation. The implications of the findings have been discussed.Keywords

The aim of the present study was to examine the awareness and social support among encephalitis survivors. The sample consists of 40 male/female encephalitis survivors of Gorakhpur districts. Awareness measure & social support measure were developed by the investigators (2014). The data was analyzed using mean, SD & F-ratio. Result revealed that there were no significant difference among rural and urban encephalitis survivors on awareness and social support measure.Keywords

Life satisfaction is an overall assessment of feelings and attitudes about one's life at a particular point in time ranging from negative to positive. The present study was conducted to measure the life satisfaction among working and non working women. A sample of 300 women (150 working &150 Non working) was drawn randomly from the population of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh . Life Satisfaction Scale developed by Sharma and Mishra (2018) was used for data collection. Mean, SD, and F ratio was computed for the statistical analysis of the data. Findings indicate that there was significant difference between working and non working women. Working women have higher life satisfaction in compare to non working women.Keywords
