Trauma induced maxillofacial injuries may affect function as well as esthetics in children. In hospitalized paediatric trauma patients, mandibular fractures are the most common. Boys are affected twice than girls. In children, management of mandibular fractures differ somewhat from that in adults. The objective of treatment is to restore the underlying bony architecture in a stable and non invasive fashion to pre injury position. Closed reduction method is preferred in most paediatric cases. This case report demonstrates the use of fabricated acrylic splint in the stabilization and fixation of a mandibular body fracture in a 5 yr old patient.Keywords

Machine Transliteration is becoming an important research area in Machine Translation, which ensures phonology of target language word. This paper describes the transliteration system that has been developed for multi script text. The proposed system is capable of transliterating English and Hindi text into equivalent Punjabi text using a rule based transliteration approach. Transliteration is more phonetic process because transliteration is more closely related with utterance. Thus there is need to perform phonetic analysis in addition to orthography for forming rules. The accuracy of English-Punjabi and Hindi-Punjabi transliteration is found to be 94% and 98% respectively.Keywords

Objective: Currently, the user is rely on the results of the Google search i.e. lengthy documents, web links etc. So, Question Answering (QA) dialogue system becomes more vital to access the succinct answers in a jiffy. Methods: The main focus is on Query Processing based on partial semantic and syntactic analysis and keyword based approach. The major module is Dialogue Manager which is responsible to communicate between the User and the System to resolve anaphora and Co-reference problems. Findings: The existing Indian Railway system is based on clicking system which is more time consuming. Thus, proposed QA dialogue system provides specific and concise answers to users. The results are encouraging and a motivation for further research in this field. The proposed system restricted to provide answers of related queries but further extension of the system can also include replies related arrival time, departure time over the phone etc.Keywords

Background:
Menstruation is an important part of female reproductive cycle, but menstrual dysfunction in adolescent girls may affect the normal life of adolescent girls. Most of the adolescent girls were affected by PMS symptoms like dysmenorrhoea, menorrhagia, metrorrhagia. Poor nutritional status and anaemia were also associated with common menstrual problems among adolescent girls. The menstrual cycle is the scientific term for the physiological changes that can occur in fertile women for the purpose of sexual reproduction and fertilization. The menstrual cycle, under the control of endocrine system. Menstrual cycles are counted from the first day of menstrual bleeding, Average of 28 days. Different phases are menstrual, proliferative, ovulatory, luteal, ischemic and follicular phase.
The frequency of premenstrual syndrome in India was 53% according to ICD-10 criteria, among which 42% was mild, 18.2% moderate and 31.7% severe. A total of 64 girls (18.2%) met the DSM-IV criteria for severe PMS or Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The order of frequency of symptoms occurring in PMS was general body discomfort, anxiety, backache, fatigue and depression. Most frequently reported symptoms in PMDD group were anger, anxiety, stress, depression, fatigue and general body discomfort.
Objectives:
* To determine the pre-test knowledge of adolescents on lifestyle changes in prevention of premenstrual syndrome.
* To evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on lifestyle changes in prevention of premenstrual syndrome
* To find the association between lifestyle changes and demographic variables.
Method:
A pre experimental, one group pre-test post-test design was used for the study. Using the purposive random sampling technique, 50 adolescent girls were selected and the data was collected by administering the Structured Knowledge Questionnaire on premenstrual syndrome during adolescence period. After collecting data, the planned teaching programme (PTP) was administered to the subjects on the same day and on 8thday, a post-test was conducted using the same Structured Knowledge Questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using the descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results:
The analysis of the pretest knowledge shows that in the pre test scores, majority (22%) of the adolescent girls had average knowledge, 78% of them had poor knowledge and none of them had good knowledge where as in the post test, majority (60%) of the adolescent girls had average knowledge, 38% of them had good knowledge and the least (2%) of them had poor knowledge regarding life style changes in prevention of premenstrual syndrome. There was no significant association of knowledge scores with the demographic variables like age, age at first menstruation, religion and family income and significant association of knowledge scores with the demographic variables like educational qualification and previous knowledge regarding life style changes in prevention of premenstrual syndrome.
Interpretation and Conclusion:
The findings of the study concluded that the planned teaching programme was effective in improving the knowledge of the adolescent girls regarding life style changes in the prevention of premenstrual syndrome during adolescence period. Educating the adolescent girls, will help them to become more aware about their own health and also helps for early detection and treatment.

Objectives: The plethora of information available on the web makes it difficult to search for a specific and suitable query. So, Question Answering dialogue system becomes helpful to provide precise and short answers to users instead of lengthy documents or passages. Method: The main focus is on keyword based approach and partial linguistic analysis to process the query. The main component is Dialogue Manager which clarifies the conversation between user and system to resolve the elliptical and anaphoric problems. Findings/ Application: The paper is based upon the development of Question answering dialogue system in Hindi language for the domain of Railways. The study is restricted to Northern India alone. The existing system of Indian railway does not support Question Answering system while this novel system will provide anytime anywhere facility of enquiry about railway. The implemented system is quite simple, interactive and easy to use such that end user can ask the query using Hindi transliteration. The results are quite satisfactory as precision and recall values are 98% and 97% respectively.Keywords

- Opinions of College Going Rural Girls about Eve Teasing:A Sociological Analysis

The modern India is emerging as a global power but for half of its population, the women across the country, struggle to live life with dignity continue. Women, irrespective of their caste, class and educational status, are not safe and have been the victim of exploitations since long time in different fields in their life both physically, socially, mentally and economically. Eve teaching is the most common act of public violence against women which includes various forms of harassment like making vulgar comment, indecent proposal, unwelcome gestures, attempt to make physical contact, etc. The present study was conducted on 75 girls studying in rural colleges. The data were collected using a interview schedule and analysed for drawing inferences. The results revealed that 64.0 per cent respondents had faced one or other form of eve teaching in their life. More than 2/3rd of the respondents were against the opinion that dress of girl is responsible for eve teaching. The main causes of eve teaching explained by the respondents were lack of respect for girls (89.0%), lack of education (80.0%), lower sex ratio (70.0%), low mentality of males (68.0%) and shyness of girls (67.0%). Majority of girls were of the opinion that incidence of eve teasing can be reduced by strictly enforcing laws (72.0%), moral education at home (76.0%), informing parents (80.0%), awareness about surrounding and self confidence (84.0% each). Expectations of girl students from government and educational institutions have also been discussed and it was concluded that more awareness among girls and preventive measures are needed to curb the menace of eve teasing.Keywords

Sex ratio is an important social indicator to measure the extent of the prevailing equality between males and females in a society at a given point of time. Clianges in sex ratio largely reflect the underlying socio-economic and cultural patterns of a society in different ways. The present paper reviews various socio-cultural factors like traditional cultural practices, health practices, food and nutrition, education, awareness about laws, mobility of girls, attitude toward female, son preference, etc. that affect sex ratio and causes health deprivation of girl child. It is concluded that patriarchy manifested in son preference and daughter discrimination reduces the survival chances of girl child. This is reinforced by factors including property inheritance, dowry, high marriage cost and availability of the cheap technology. The results of various studies suggest that there is a need to change the mind set of society about girls their survival and development.Keywords

Women's health has been a global concern for many decades and India is one of the few countries in the world where women and men have nearly the same life expectancy at birth. Health care access is important for women as women's body charges throughout her life time, from fatal development to post menopause. The complex structure of the culture and socio-economic factors prevalent in patriarchal Indian society is responsible for the persistent discrimination in terms of health issues. The paper reviews various socio-cultural, economic and psychological barriers affecting women health. It has been observed by various researchers that women's health is influenced by age, work load, education, family type and size and socio-economic status. Additionally women provide the majority of family health care by caring for both aging parents and children although efforts have been taken to improve the health status of women but the constitution dream of gender inequality is terms of health are miles away from becoming reality, even today. The State Government of Haryana needs to urgently undertaking massive women's healthcare drive to correct the situation but still more efforts are required to improve the health condition of care taker of whole family.Keywords

Background: The axis vertebra, exhibits complex and extensive variability in the morphology and there are vital neurovascular structures in its proximity. Knowledge of this variability is important for neurosurgeons, orthopaedicians, otorhynologists and other physicians who in everyday practice are in contact with disorders of the spine and their consequences.
Objective: The aim was to evaluate various morphometric dimensions of axis vertebrae and to compare with the available data.
Material and Methods: 50 dried human axis vertebrae of Indian origin, available in the Department of Anatomy, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana were studied. Various dimensions were taken with vernier calipers, metric scale and graph paper. The dimensions were measured in millimetres and statistically analysed with paired t-test.
Results: The mean of maximum anteroposterior diameter (max.APD) and maximum transverse diameter (max.TD) of Superior Articular Facet (SAF) was measured as 17.42mm±1.73 and 15.31mm±1.44 on the right side, 17.64mm±1.51 and 15.17mm±1.48 on left side. The mean Distance from Lateral most edge of SAF to Midline was measured as 22.56mm ± 2.37 and 22.40mm ± 2.16 on the right and left sides, respectively. The mean Distance from Tip of Transverse Process to Midline was 26.45mm ± 2.85 on the right and 26.03mm ± 2.64 on the left side. The mean Height of Dens was measured as 13.83mm ± 1.52, mean Width of Dens as 9.57mm ± 0.85. Width of Pedicle was measured as 10.52mm ± 1.99 and 10.61mm ± 1.67on right and left sides, respectively.
Conclusion: The knowledge of these dimensions can provide useful information for safe planning of osseous fixation.
