Functional foods and bioactive components in the dietary intervention against chronic diseases gain the significance of identifying and severance of functional ingredient in developing the specialty foods for enhanced human health and nutrition. Whey, which was once considered as a waste of cheese industry has transpired as a spring of functional ingredients in addition to the rich source of branched chain amino acids which include beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin, bovine serum albumin, lactoferrin, immunoglobulins, lactoperoxidase enzymes, glycomacropeptides, lactose and minerals contributing to the health enhancers like antioxidant, antihypertensive and antimicrobial, immune modulators and muscle builder and also playing a key role in averting cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis.

Business Process Outsourcing sector has been the latest mantra in India today. A BPO work organization is "high-strain" due to the heavy workloads, tight rules and procedures, electronic monitoring and the employees are given little or no autonomy.1 Ultimately it creates physical, psychological and behavioral deviations among them. It not only affects the individuals and the industry but the country on the whole. A Cross sectional study was undertaken among 90 BPOs in a private organization in Chennai using a standard pretested questionnaire to find the organizational commitment, relationship of gender with tension and nervousness due to stress at workplace. It was estimated that statistically significant (p< 0.05) relationship exists between gender with nervousness due to emotional exhaustion, tension due to work load, Conclusion: Nervousness and tension are higher among males compared to females in BPO sector. Emphasize should be laid on the importance of stress coping strategy at organization and individual level.Keywords

Objectives: This present paper investigated experimentally on the variation of local friction factor over the cross section in channels of different geometries. The dependency of the variation of friction factor with aspect ratio has been well compared with the results of other researchers and natural river data. Methods/Analysis: Experiments have been conducted on trapezoidal and rectangular open channel for different geometry, hydraulic and roughness conditions. The local friction factors along every vertical interface have been carried out. The actual prediction of boundary shear stress and depth averaged velocity distribution have been calculated by finding the changes of these indispensible parameters, from wide range of data collected from previous literatures. Also the experimental depth averaged velocity and boundary shear stress have been carried out for assessing the friction factor. Findings: The global friction factor fg and local friction factors fl were calculated based on the measured depth-averaged velocity and boundary shear stress. The local friction factor does not remain constant across the channel as it depends upon the geometry and roughness parameter. The paper describes the variation of friction factor for both smooth and rough channels under different flow condition. Local boundary shear stress around the wetted perimeter τb, and depth averaged velocity, Ud, data are used to evaluate local friction factor, fl. Applications/Improvement: Local friction factor variation analysis is a very rare factor that few researchers are taken into consideration. But it has a more importance for flow characteristics which is studied in this paper.Keywords
