Abstract

Malnutrition and undernutrition of protein-energy is widespread in developing countries. It is regarded as a spectrum of disease arising from an inadequate diet, especially in childhood. The results of community surveys have shown that over 50 per cent of toddlers in the poor socio-economic groups in India are anaemic, while 70-80 per cent of children suffer from various forms of growth retardation due to protein-energy malnutrition.

Abstract

Obesity, or excess fatness, is the commonest problem of the affluent and it is the night mare of every women above twenty years and of middle aged men. The prevalence of obesity in our country is high enough to make it a serious health problem. In strict terms, the diagnosis of this disorder depends on the demonstratlpn of an increased body fat content.
