Life satisfaction is an overall assessment of feelings and attitudes about one's life at a particular point of time. The present study was designed to investigate the differences in the level of various components of life satisfaction on the basis of certain demographic variables i.e. gender, age, family type, and background. Life Satisfaction Scale (Alam&Srivastava, 2001) measuring six components of life satisfaction i.e. Health Satisfaction (H.S.), Personal Satisfaction (P.S.), Economic Satisfaction (E.S.), Marital Satisfaction (M.S.), Social Satisfaction (S.S.), Job Satisfaction (J.S.) and overall Life Satisfaction was used to measure Life Satisfaction. The sample of study consists of 240 subjects in the age range of 18-32 years. ANOVA was used to analyse the data. The results of the study indicate that Health Satisfaction is affected by gender and age; Personal Satisfaction is affected by family type, Economic Satisfaction and Marital Satisfaction are not affected by any of the variables in the study; Social Satisfaction is affected by gender, age, and background; and Job Satisfaction is affected by age, and family type. However the groups did not differ significantly on overall Life Satisfaction score in any of the demographic determinants of the study. Keywords

The present study was designed to assess and compare the achievement motivation level and academic achievement of boys and girls students of the Senior Secondary schools situated in different rural and urban areas of Rohtak district and also to find out the correlation between achievement motivation and academic achievement level of the Senior Secondary School students of 10+2 class. A 2×2 factorial design was adopted for the present study. The study was conducted over a sample of 200 (100 boys and 100 girls) students of the age group of 16-18 years of Senior Secondary schools studying in 10+2 class in different schools of Rohtak district. Out of them 100 students (50 boys and 50 girls) were selected from the schools situated in different rural areas and other 100 students (50 boys and 50 girls) were selected from the Senior Secondary schools situated in different urban areas on random basis. Achievement Motivation Scale designed by Pratibha Deo and Asha Mohan (1985) was used to measure achievement motivation. The aggregate marks obtained in the examination were taken as their level of academic achievement. It was hypothesized that there will be significant difference between the achievement motivation and academic achievement level of the students on the basis of sex and background of the school. It was also hypothesized that there will be a significant positive correlation between achievement motivation and academic achievement level of the students. The obtained data was analyzed by employing mean, S.D., t-test and Pearson's 'r'. No significant difference was found on achievement motivation level of the students on the basis of sex and background of the schools. A significant positive correlation was found between achievement motivation and academic achievement level of the students. Keywords

Aspiration of tracheobronchial foreign bodies (FB) occurs more commonly in children, but under certain circumstances, it also can occur in adults. Common symptoms can be fever, a protracted cough with expectoration, dyspnoea, haemoptysis. Complications of FB aspiration are, recurrent pneumonia, lung abscess and bronchiectasis. The longer a foreign body resides in the airway, the more likely it is to migrate distally. When this occurs, symptoms of chronic cough and wheezing may mimic an asthma like condition. We present a case of a 70 year old man with foreign body bronchiectasis with recurrent lower respiratory infections.- Spirituality and Happiness: A Correlated Study

Throughout the world, marriage behavior and family life are changing. Young people are waiting later to marry, couples are having fewer children, and more married women are working outside the home. In view of the same this study was carried out to investigate into the attitude Indian youth toward marriage and family relations. The study was conducted on 240 subjects including 140 males and 100 females. The age range varied from 18 to 32 years. Altogether 12 items from social change attitude scale (Rekha, 1996) were used to measure the attitude of the subjects toward marriage and family relations. The data were analyzed with the help of suitable statistics. The findings of the study revealed a positive change in the attitudes among the youth in terms of decision making at home, sharing of household work by both partners, acceptance of wife's decisions by husband, need for economic independence of wife and obsolescence of purdah system. Hence also, positive attitudes towards the female child, and significance of parents' consent in marriage is indicated. Sexual satisfaction is still seen as the primary aim of marriage in significantly larger number of males than females. Keywords

In this paper, the various technical aspects (such as image acquisition, imaging used, iris localization and pattern matching)used in Iris recognition technology have been discussed and elaborated. The three cameras can be used to capture the picture of the entire torso of a person in which one of the three cameras will capture the image of eye only including upper and lower eyelids. Then two techniques Near Infra Red (NIR) and Visual Wavelength (VW) can be used for imaging purpose. NIR is widely used as most of the people of world have black eyes, whereas VW is used for colored eyes. After imaging, iris’s picture is localized and ultimately the pattern of iris is encoded to generate 512 byte human bar code.

Rapid increase in HIV/AIDS incidence and its negative impact on the society itself is an alarming stage, making the patients more prone to develop clinical patterns as the disease is highly associated with social stigma, grief and stress. Every patient has to cope with both the disease and the accompanying stresses. However, the HIV patients suffering from psychological and psychiatric disorders can be made able to cope with the disease related stress and worries. HIV/AIDS is also one such disorder with high incidence and prevalence. Each individual suffering from HIV/AIDS adopts a different style and strategy to cope with the disease. If a better way of coping is there it can help the individual to face the negative impacts associated with HIV/AIDS disease. The aim of the study was to evaluate the level of clinical personality patterns in HIV patients adopting problem focused and emotional focused ways of coping. The present study was carried out in Haryana on 250 HIV positive patients having the age from 25 to 50 years (mean age 37.5 years). To assess the coping styles adopted by HIV patients, Folkman and Lazarus (1988) tested the selected subjects with the ways of copmg questionnaire and then PAI suggested by Morey (1991) was administered to evaluate the level of clinical personality patterns. The means, SD's can't values were computed to interpret the data. Statistical analysis indicates that HIV patients adopted emotion focused ways of coping scored significantly higher on all the eleven subscales of PAI.Keywords

The present investigation was made to study the psychological (personality) correlates of criminal behaviour. The objectives of the study were to compare criminals and non-criminals on different personality variables/traits and to identify the discriminant variables of criminality. It was hypothesized that criminals would score higher on extraversion, neuroticism and psychoticism and subsequently on all the personality traits (EPP-SV6) For the sudy of psychological correlates of criminal behaviour two group design was adopted group I (n = 100) consisting of criminals and group II (n=100) consisting of non-criminals (normal subjects). Criminals were inmates of District Jail, Rohtak under section 302 and 307 and non-criminals from general population. The two groups consisted of 25-35 years old, semi-literate from rural as well as urban background. They were matched on sociodemographic variables. Eysenck Personality Profiler Short (EPPS-V6) Hindi translation was used to measure the personality variables/traits. The data were analyzed by employing t-test and two group discriminant to identify the psychological personality correlates of criminality. It was found that criminals were significantly higher than non-criminals on all the personality traits as per EPP-SV6. The major discriminant factors of criminality were unhappiness, anxiety, inferiority, risk taking, irresponsibility, assertiveness and impulsiveness in that order. Keywords

The present investigation was made to study the physiological correlates of criminal behaviour. The objective of the study was to compare criminals and non-cnminals on physiological correlates (Heart Rate&Galvanic Skin Response). It was hypothesized that criminals would have a significantly lower basal / aroused heart rate and skm conductance activity than non-cnrnmals. For the study of physiological correlates of criminal behaviour two group design was adopted group I (n = 100) consisting of criminals and group II (n = 100) consisting of non-criminals (normal subjects). Criminals were inmates of District Jail, Rohtakunder section 302 and 307 and non-criminal from general population. The two groups consisted of 25-35 years old, semi-literate from rural as well urban background. They were matched on socidemographic variables. These groups were tested on two physiological indices i.e. Heart Rate (HRL) and Galvanic skmresponse (GSR). Heart Rate Level (HRL) was measured by Pulse Monitor and Galvamc Skin Response (GSR) was measured using Automatic Digital Multimeter. HRL and GSR were measured in terms of basal value and arousal. The data were analysed by employing t-test for heart rate and χ2 for GSR for analyzing the significance of difference between two groups. It was found that criminal differed significantly from non-criminal on arousal level as measured on heart rate but on basal level was not found significant. Criminals were found differed significantly from non-criminals on GSR.Keywords
