Polyvinyledenefluoride-polystyrene (PVDF/PS) blend ultrafiltration membranes were prepared using phase inversion technique. Casting solutions were prepared with different compositions of poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and polystyrene (PS) both in the presence and absence of the additive, poly (vinylpyrolidone) (PVP) using dimethylacetamide as solvent. The effects of compositions of PS and concentrations of PVP on shrinkage ratio, pure water flux and percentage of water content of the blend ultrafiltration membranes were studied. The application of the PVDF/PS blend membranes in separation of toxic heavy metal ions from aqueous streams was also attempted and the results are discussed.Keywords

In recent years multi level inverters are used high power and high voltage applications. In this paper propose PWM control strategy an eleven level cascaded H-bridge multi level inverter. This method introduce sine wave is compared with the triangular carrier wave with different phase relationship. The carrier based Phase disposition PDPWM, PODPWM, APODPWM have been analyzed in this paper. The PWM control strategy method for multi level inverter to reduce the total harmonics distortion in the output waveform. The simulation is done by matlab/simulink environment.Keywords

A new shunt active filter is proposed here to reduce the harmonic contents in source voltage and source currents of a harmonic polluted three phase system supplying a non – linear load. The shunt active filter is designed with multi level cascaded H-bridge inverter. To generate the required compensation currents multi carrier PWM Currents are extracted from the load power using Synchronous Detection Method. Simulation of the active filter with proposed current control and dc bus control is presented. The harmonic filter reduces the harmonic contents in source currents as well as the source voltage multilevel shunt active filter does not require an interfacing transformer to connect it with the high power system. It reduces the filter current ripples and improve source power factor.Keywords

Objectives: This study investigates the variation of heat transfer parameters using wavy fin located in the plate heat exchanger. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Velocity and temperature relations, fanning friction factor for iso-temperature and Colburn factor are evaluated for different flow rates of Reynolds Number from 200 to 2000 and its various fin pitches within 9 mm respectively. Similarities were found between this experimental data and semi empirical correlations of Plate Heat Exchanger. Findings: The various parameters are evaluated using this experimental setup and we obtained the optimum j/f for swirl flow regime with Reynolds Number of around 200 to 210. The general correlations for friction factor and Colburn factor were derived by multiple linear regression analysis. Application/Improvements: This studies show the periodic growth of parameters in the wall region of cross section of cross flow heat exchanger. Also we obtained the higher heat transfer co-efficient by using wavy fin with reasonable pressure fall.Keywords
