Field experiment was conducted at Banana Research Station, Jalgaon (M.S.) to find out the amount of N and K2O which can be fed through drip irrigation for banana and the effect of fertigation on soil properties, nutrient uptake and yield of banana cv. GRAND NAINE. Application of 75 % recommended dose of N and K2O through drip at weekly interval in 44 splits up to 300 days and recommended dose of P2O5 by soil placement at the time of planting, found beneficial in terms of banana yield and monetary returns, indicating 25 % saving in N and K fertilizers due to use of fertigation technique. Uptake of nutrients was increased in the fertigation treatments as compared to the conventional method of fertilizer application. Keywords

A field experiment was conducted to quantify the amount of inorganic N fertilizer which can be substituted by using different organics and to find out its effect on soil properties, nutrient uptake, nematode population and yield of tissue cultured banana cv. GRAND NAINE. Application of 25 % N through FYM + 75 % N through inorganic fertilizers were found beneficial in terms of banana yield and monetary returns. Which was followed by application of 25 % N through FYM and green manuring crop + 75 % N through inorganic fertilizers. Further, substitution of inorganic N fertilizers by using FYM or Neem cake upto 50 or 75 % was not found beneficial and economical. Soil available NPK after harvest of crop and nutrient uptake (kg/ha) by crop was highest in all the treatment (T2 to T6) where different sources of organics were used with inorganic fertilizers as compared to the treatment T1 i.e. 100 % N through inorganic fertilizers only. The nematode population was lower in the treatments in which part of inorganic N was provided through either Neem cake or other organic sources as compared to the inorganic treatment. Keywords

A Field experiment was conducted at Banana Research Station, Jalgaon (M.S.) to find out effect of different sources of nitrogen on soil properties, nutrient uptake and yield of banana cv. Grand Naine under drip irrigation. Combined application of 25 % N through urea + 50 % N through ammonium sulphate + 25 % N through calcium ammonium nitrate was found beneficial in terms of banana yield and monetary returns. Which was followed by application of 100 % N through ammonium sulphate. Lowest plant height, stem girth, no. of hands per bunch, no. of fingers per bunch, bunch weight and yield was recorded in the treatment of application of 100 % N through calcium ammonium nitrate. The pH and electrical conductivity after harvest of banana decreased slightly in the treatments where ammonium sulphate was used as source of nitrogen as compared to other N sources. Organic carbon and available N, P and K content of soil was not much influenced due to use of different sources of nitrogen. Keywords
