Abstract
Kienholz et al have shown that excess amounts of ascorbic acid equivalent to four grams per day for humans, administered to chicks during the first month after birth resulted in a high rate of mortality. Similar effects on the toxicity of excess ascorbic acid in guniea pigs, fed on unfortified wheat diet, has been reported.
