ventricular dysfunction most commonly seen in postmenopausal females following physical or emotional stress. Presentation usually mimics an acute coronary event. However, cardiac catheterization often reveals normal coronary arteries. The pathogenesis of this disease is still poorly understood. Identifying signs and symptoms and its correlation with physical or emotional stress will lead to early diagnosis and intervention. The prognosis for this syndrome is quite favorable .This case report describes a postmenopausal woman in whom Takotsubo cardiomyopathy developed in the immediate postoperative period following total thyroidectomy for carcinoma thyroid. She had a complete recovery over 4 weeks. Keywords
