The present study is to evaluate the in-vivo anti oxidant effect of hydro alcohol (50% aqueous ethanolic extract) extract of Nelumbo nucifera (G) flowers on streptozotocin-induced diabetes. Animals were induced for diabetes with streptozotocin (60 mg/kg of body weight, i.p.) and treated orally with hydro- alcoholic (50% aqueous ethanolic extract) extract of Nelumbo nucifera (G.) flowers in various doses (200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg p.o). The effect of Nelumbo nucifera (G) flowers on diabetes was assessed from plasma glucose. At the end of the study, vital organs were dissected and estimated the parameters such as LPO, GSH, GPx and peroxidase. From the data obtained in this study it could be concluded that hydro alcoholic extract of Nelumbo nucifera (G) flowers seems to have potential value for the treatment of diabetic due to its Anti oxidant activity.Keywords

A series of Mannich bases have been synthesized by treating thiourea, isatin with formaldehyde and different aromatic primary and secondary amines. The structures of compounds were established based on IR, 1H NMR and Mass spectral data. The title compounds were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities. The compounds S4, S6 and S10 with 1-benztriazolyl, 1-diethylamino and 1-dimethylamino substituted derivatives exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebesiella pneumonia, whereas the compounds S4, S6 and S10 with 1-benztriazolyl, 1-piperazinyl and 1-dimethylamino substituted derivatives exhibited better antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger.Keywords

In today's competitive world paying attention to the customer and keeping customer in mind is an important beginning, but when all the companies do the same to produce what customer wants, then the competition to the area of production and the one who is better in quality, faster in delivery, cheaper and more agile wins Competitiveness is one of the main strategic goals for all the companies. To be more competitive, one of the ways is to meet the customers demand promptly, to respond to customer' faster. Lean management system can be implemented in industries that are highly assembly oriented or have a high amount of repetitive human process. These are typically industries for which productivity is highly influenced by the efficiency and attention to detail of the people who are working manually with tools or operating equipments. One such industry is the pump industry. This research paper will show the readers implementation of lean system in the company, resulted in increasing benefits in terms of customer satisfaction, product quality and reduction in lead time thereby improving the performance of the company. The scope of this study is focused on implementing lean manufacturing system for a pump industry. For this, a study has been carried at a pump manufacturing unit manufacturing various types of pump sets in Coimbatore. Various tools of lean manufacturing have been implemented in the selected unit and the results are discussed.Keywords
