Abstract
Forty-six blue-green algal species belonging to fifteen genera, e.g. Gloeocapsopsis, Gloeothece, Myxosarcina, Chroococcidiopsis, Lyngbya, Phromidium, Plectonema, Nostoc, Calothrix, Tolypothrix, Chtorogloeopsis, Fischerella, Hapalosiphon, Westiellopsis and Stigonema occurred on the exposed surfaces of various archaeological monuments from different regions of India. All these blue-green algal species have been isolated and maintained in the culture collection at the Department of Botany, Utkal University.
