Abstract

Pickle is tine oldest and most successful method of food preservation. The history of pickle making stretches back to 2030 BC., when cucumbers were first preserved and eaten as pickles. They are of three types namely in vinegar, salt and oil. The fruits and vegetables are preserved and made available throughout the year.

Abstract

Wasting and malnutrition occur commonly in patients with renal disease. The causes are multifactorial and include inadequate intake of nutrients, loss of nutrients in dialysate, recurrent illnesses, uremic toxins and endocrine abnormalities, such as insulin resistance, hyperglucagonemia and hyperparathyroidism. Malnutrition and wasting may contribute to many aspects of the uremic syndrome, including increased susceptibility to infection, impaired wound healing, decreased strength and vigor and poor rehabilitation and quality of life.

Abstract

Anaemia is a major public health problem of the world today. Recent research studies have revealed that 65 per cent to 75 per cent of the under privileged adolescent girls (10 to 18 years) in India are anaemic. Iron deficiency anaemia may be defined as suboptimal haemoglobin level due to lack of iron and with no available stores of iron in the body.
